OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hi Everyone!! Welcome! Sorry - I haven't been on in a month or so.  It's like Suwigg said, we're much more active on the Georgia Navy Moms FB page just because most of us see notifications more immediately on that group and have gotten to know each other.  BUT.. Navy for Moms is definitely the best place to be for those of you who have new SR's or just went through boot camp.

My son has been in the Navy for about 4 years and he's currently stationed in California after his last deployment.  I'm in Dunwoody.  We are about due to have another meet and greet soon, though I think there was just one recently on the southside.  If you have any questions or need anything, we're all one big family and most of us remember all too well those new Navy Mom days (and nights) and are happy to help with anything and everything we can.  Feel free to friend me on this page and/or message me with any questions.

Happyone00, there are definitely lots of experiences to share (mostly good - many humerous ones).  We can definitely give you a list of things to do to prepare yourself and your SR so that when the time comes you don't feel so alone and anxious.

Hello, I've been watching Georgia Navy Moms for a few months. We are in McDonough. My son leaves for boot camp on July 26th. I am trying to learn all I can as we are new to the military life. I'd love to hear some other Mom experiences. I am so proud of my son's decision.

Welcome MamaDawg in Athens! Rome, GA here. Mine graduated 6/10/15. Boy has the time flown. He is on his first deployment right now in the western Pacific. So far from home. He's been gone a month and I can't wait to hear from him. Where will your son go to A-school?

Hi MamaDawg - If you are on Facebook, we have a much more active group there. Georgia Navy Moms, and there are larger Navy Mom groups on Facebook as well. Join us! Hang in there - Boot Camp is hard on the mom!
Johns Creek here. My son is leaving San Diego and his destroyer after 4 1/2 years. He's heading to Naples Italy for his next duty station.

Welcome Georgiagurl43(Jay's Mom Alisa)! Have lots of fun with your son and stalk the Navy Moms website so you knkow what to expect.  It's quite an emotional roller coaster ride while he's gone, but just know that it's not as bad for him as what you probably have pictured in your mind. It's amazing how your emotions take over as soon as they leave though.  We're all here for you though.

Welcome Georgiagurl43! Enjoy the time you have with him now, it flies by and you will miss him terribly when he goes to BC. Do lots of fun stuff, enjoy just hanging, talk, talk talk! That was the hardest for me was missing talking to my boy when he went. Enjoy !
