They don't give out extra tickets. The recruit is supposed to give out the names of the people he,'s inviting. I remember they livestreamed it when my husband was in boot camp i'm not sure if they still do that.

He has a younger brother and I read if you’re 12 and younger you don’t count as a ticket Is that true?

No, that is not true, that is old information.

Roxie, no there’s no extra tickets. Any extra guests can watch in the chapel if there’s space, this is what they mean when they say extra guests can attend. For security reasons, even if there is plenty of space in the drill hall and people don’t show up, they cannot let guests who have not been vouched for attend the ceremony in person, and each sailor can only vouch for 3-4 guests depending on the number of divisions graduating. Best to get there early so you know you’ll get into the chapel if they’re having it, and if you hurry once they open the chapel doors, sometimes you can catch a moment with your sailor after the ceremony.

They aren't even doing the chapel thing anymore, it was dropped very recently.  Hopefully they pick it up again.

That’s a huge bummer :(. I wonder why they changed it. I noticed they changed ticket pickup too watching their Facebook feed…wonder  if they’re changing up securities or something. I thought it was a little weird they let anyone on on Fridays, considering you need clearance or permission to go there otherwise.

A lot has changed very recently.  Now all invited guests need to fill out a security form.  I haven't looked at the form, so I don't know what would prohibit a visitor from being accepted.

It might be a bit much to go all the way to RTC Great Lakes if you’re not on his graduation list, unless he’s transferring to TSC Great Lakes for A School or you live close enough to gamble on MAYBE seeing him for 5 min without dropping a ton of $ on plane tickets. All it is, is a live stream of the ceremony in the chapel, it’s the same one you’d watch online. Again, unless he is transferring to TSC Great Lakes, you’re better off watching online and saving your money to visit him at his A School where you’ll get more time to see him.

He has a younger brother and I read if you’re 12 and younger you don’t count as a ticket Is that true?

From RTC, as posted on the bootcampmoms group:

Who can attend PIR?

Your recruit will indicate the names of four guests who will be permitted to receive tickets and attend PIR. Children ages 2 and under do not need a ticket to attend PIR, but a copy of the child's birth certificate may be presented in order for the child to attend PIR. The names of the guests will be listed on the Security Access Form. Your recruit will send the Security Access Form with The Form Letter and it will need to be completed fully and returned to your recruit. if you do not receive The Form Letter, then you can download the Security Access Form and complete it and send it to your recruit, but the recruit has the final say on who will attend PIR.

ALL GUESTS 3 AND OLDER MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ATTEND PIR, INCLUDING MILITARY GUESTS (ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE, RETIRED, VET). No extra guests allowed, no exceptions.

I don’t want to give you misinformation, so I can’t answer that, but if it helps, they will give him all this info during P-Days (his first few days to a week or so  in bootcamp), and when he mails home his letter with his address and graduation info, should be within a couple weeks of departure, it will say who is on the list. If his brother is on it, I would say it’s safe to assume that he counts. It will also have info about the graduation itself.
