I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp This website was sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes to military relationships. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to when he was in bootcamp because we are now living together out here in California and Im a Nursing Major and I work full time (whew!) but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions for me make a discussion topic and i will see it and respond. Take Care ♥

Thanks ladies. I guess jet noises wouldn't be too bad. I come from a small one stoplight town and haven't ever lived anywhere else. So where ever we live is going to be a huge change for me. I guess I would just like a safe neighborhood over anything else. I don't want to have to worry about robberies and gangs when he is on deployment.

here is one where you enter in your zip code http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/bah.html

It will go by where you live now if he is in school and not living with you. when he gets stationed regardless of if you live with him or not it will go to where he is stationed.

I don't have the answer to your question - but the best place to get paycharts etc is on military.com. hope that helps.

Do you know rules for when they are in A-school, married, but not requesting to live ashore? Not only was the chart I found confusing, but it was hidden under an advertisement.

At some bases, for single E-4 and below, they must live in the barracks unless it is full. Then, beginning with the more senior E-4s, they can request to live off base. Even if they choose to share an apartment with a friend, they don't receive BAH and must maintain an inspection ready barracks room.

Married is different, although I think if they're below a certain rank, the must request to live ashore. School commands are always stricter.

Okay thank you! My boyfriend just graduated from bootcamp as an E3 and he won't be stationed for 2 years and I still have 3 years of school left so we won't be living together anytime soon, unfortunately, but I was curious for when it does finally get close to that time

Brittany- if he isn't married then he will not receive single BAH until I believe he is an E5. If he is not receiving BAH he probably will not be able to afford to live off base.If he is in A or C school and not married he cannot live off base

Brittney- I think that only falls under if they are single. But I think it is a E3 or E4I have not heard of that rule applying if they are married. My husband was living out in town as an E4.

Hey Ladies, I've been hearing that the guys can't live off base until they are a certain rank. Is this true and if so what rank do they need to be?
