While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ah, Britani, hang on. Take a long slow breath and try to relax.
Hey, sometimes our sailors forget how much communication means to the ones back at home. They get rushed or busy, maybe they're in a bad mood or have a headache ... you just never know. This is when the trust and love has to kick in, the knowledge that the two of you will be fine, even if today hurts.
Don't nag the guys, but when you do get that call or letter, thank them for it, for keeping you in their heart and on their mind.

LOL, my hubby is now a trucker, and he takes steel down to Vegas when the big casinos start building. He knows the name of every dancer at Coyote Ugly's and has introduced them all to me! They call him Moses because of his beard. It's cute, they're so beautiful and hot they're no threat to me, he's safe with them and they like him. Does that make sense? Or am I crazy to trust him with Vegas dancers? LOL. I'm crazy, he's a good guy. That's why all the girls tend to like him in that little sisterly way.

Giget, don't worry. Most of the worst ports, like the Philippines, are closed. Most sailors are smart enough to stay away from those people. Besides, it's the bored Navy wives who are the worst threats! And yeah, I didn't let any of the skanks near my guy!

I was already in when I met him, that was the easy part because I knew what being a sailor is like day to day. I only did nine years instead of the full 20 because we couldn't get stationed together.
On another topic, someone posted a link on another group I am on, it is the OPSEC training video some of the troops have to watch. Since most of the ladies here are not experienced Navy wives or sailors, I thought you might find it very informative.

Yes, some of the married guys are seen as safe and can make friends with women ... but there's women out there, and I have met them, who like to hit on married guys to see if they can "get" them. It disgusts me because they are usually Navy wives whose husbands are away and who think they're hot stuff. Grrr. When I was dating hubby, and this was on Diego Garcia, military only and isolated, 2,000 men and 200 women, none of the girls were interested in him until he was taken. There were plenty of men to go around, single men, but no, they had to flirt with him. One even did while he and I were dancing! So your guy has to be strong for you, because there's a lot of troublemakers out there.
And I dated a couple sailors who I dropped fast; they were married and didn't bother to say so! That made me mad, but it didn't happen often.
I know this is a touchy subject, and I'd just like to say I hope I don't scare anyone if I get a little too honest.

My husband had a ton of chances to cheat, he was sent to places like the Philippines and Thailand, and wow what goes on there! His buddies partied, and hung out with bar hostesses, and got massages, and would bring him along as the designated mostly sober watch their backs guy. Anyway, I simply had complete trust in him and it never was an issue. He knew I was a sailor too, and if he had opportunity, so did I. So we never crossed those lines.

They can give you an approximate length of time for deployment ... it will change anyway, most likely. There's good thread about OPSEC (operational security) in the General Discussion forum. Can't hurt to understand the basic concept that the bad guys are on here too ... really, they are, and little bits of info add up.
