Group for Mom's of Gunners Mates in A School or on Duty

Members: 89

I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

Congratulations to my son's class that graduated today from A school. He will be going to Mississippi for Riveriness. I have read the discussion above, but I'm not sure how long the training is. If anyone has info please let me know. I know he is excited. I'm happy he got his 1st choice, but being mom I'm a little nervous about his choice.

Barb,
Coingratulations to your son. What was the C school for? VLS? Our son just started A school yesterday....he was excited to get going again after the 4 wk hold between ATT and A school.

I agree with Bill, my son is not that strong in math either and he was just fine. He finished GM C school in San Diego today and is heading off for his first duty station on the USS Hopper. (That's stationed in Hawaii!! I will just have to visit him when he isn't deployed!!)

Very little, if any. Mostly common sense stuff. My son is not strong in math and passed the course with a 97 ave.

Tyler thought it had a lot of Algebra, calculus and Trig in it. Would you say it refers to a lot of advanced math?

Hi Joanie, ATT is all the technical stuff. Electronics and electrical systems, how to read schematics ,fluids, hydraulics, torpedoes and any thing else that doesn't just point and shoot.

The ATT class for gunners mate; exactly what kind of course is it, i.e., sciences, maths, etc. and what do they study?

James is assigned to the USS Princeton. We still don't know when he'll be home, looks like late November...it will be 1 year of him gone on November 19th. Still no definite date for C School yet, we're just hoping he'll be able to be there for the birth of baby #3 in March.

BETH, I am so happy for you. It will be so good for the boys to have their daddy right at home. What ship is he assigned to? We were in San Diego to visit our son 8/19 to 8/26. We just loved it there. Had a great time. Although our son was still in school when we were there, we did have the whole weekend with him. Again, Congrats on his orders!!!!!
