I have a request from those of us who are so very lucky to have our sailors' home this holiday season. I know that one of my sailors friends is not able to go home, I am sending some cookies and a home made blanket to him. So if there is anyone else out there that is able to send cookies/treats to these sailors, please do so. I remember how hard and lonely it is not being able to be with family during the holidays. Just having someone care enough to send cookies/treats helped. Thank you so very much for doing this, the holidays are the hardest time to be in the military. (I was a military wife many years ago)

Marty, You are so very blessed. Your sailor home for christmas and grandbaby 1st christmas.
Steve's Mom, The last time I saw my sailor was at PIR (8/7/09). Home is in Minnesota. Every time I ask him what he would like for me to make he tells me "I don't care. I just miss home." This is my sailors first time away from home.

whoohooo Marty, babys first Christmas and Daddy home--double blessings there!
Teresa, how long since you have seen your sailor? Any special holiday food asked for from him?
Nacy and Ruth, your welcome for the link, any time. Steve has been there a little less then a year, and is looking at another 6 to 9 months befor he hits the fleet so he has lots of ideas for your sailors :) He also works with some of the new sailors that just get to the base, so they may meet up sooner or later. Steve is pretty vocal about me and the site so if your sailors know that your on here they will figure out who is who pretty quick.
Bran's Mom, both Hawii and Guam assignments make me cringe only because they are so far away, I feel for you. Enjoy your holiday with him.

My son will also be home the 18th - 27th. It will be his baby's first Christmas, and his wife and son won't be moving to Groton until Spring Break. It will be good to have him home for awhile - even though not at my house.

My sailor will be home on Dec 18 -27 also. First leave home. It will be very nice having all of my boys home this year. It may be a very long time before that happens again. My middle son is joining the Army after High School graduation in the spring. I feel very blessed.

Excited but admittedly a little sad as my sailor just got his orders last week. He will be going to Hawaii on Jan. 4th - USS. La Jolla. He will get to come home after grad on Dec. 18th for Christmas though and we are really excited. I know this is the adventure he was hoping for when he joined the Navy so we are happy for him even though it will be difficult to have him so far away. Any Navy Mom's planing on attending ET/Com/Radio graduation on Dec 18th?

Steve's mom--
Thank you so much for the link! There is a lot to look at on the site, it will take me a while to go through all of it. Have a great day!

Nacy, hold time and bess class schedules vary. As for the things to do, the mwr on the website has some ideas, and they always have special seasonal activities. My sailor spends a lot of time off the base going to the different historical places and the mall, he also takes off the New York ever now and then.
here is the base website, make sure you allow the security popup
