This hasn't been added to for a while, so I thought I'd jump in. If any of you like to hike, my two favorite spots are Diamondhead and Ko Ko Head. Diamondhead is the easier of the two (I almost gave up 5 times hiking Ko Ko Head!). If you want a challenge and don't mind steep trails, Ko Ko Head is the one for you. Ko Ko Head can be a little dangerous, though, because the trail is an old track for a supply cart for the bunker at the top of the mountain. The view is so worth it though. You will feel very accomplished when you get to the top! Make sure to bring water and wear lots of sunscreen!

And I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but you should try to make a trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center to see the different Polynesian cultures, experience a luau and a wonderful show. Tickets can be expensive, but I think with a military discount it's really worth it.

Here's a local tip: If you decide to go to Waikiki Beach, go on the side further from the city (if you know what I mean). The locals like to split the beach into 2 parts. What we call the drop off, is what separates the two sides (the drop off is where you see people jumping off a wall). If you're driving away from downtown, the side of the beach you want to go on is after the wall. This is because a lot of tourists don't like that side of the beach because the water has more rocks at the bottom. But if you're there just to soak up some sun or ride the waves, try the side with less people. :D

Will add wonderful, cheap local places to go to, such as places to eat loco mocos, malassadas, yakiniku, and traditional Hawaiian food!

We had great time at the Poynesian Cultural Center. We did the dinner and the luau but they have a few packages to choose from and discount tickets are also available at the MWR ITT office.

You get get a 1/2 or full day package and discount tickets are sold at the MWR ITTat Pearl Harbor. We had a great time when we went and some great photo's.

Punch Bowl Cemetery - very serene and peaceful, memorials are very interesting;
Pali Pass - wear slacks or hang on to your skirt at overlook
?? State Park (sorry I forgot the name) - very winding road up to overlook high above Punch Bowl that has incredible almost 360 vistas of Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Diamond Head & Hanauma Bay;
Snorkeling in Shark's Cove
