Garrett's back in Japan w/ the FL cards, letters, and ornaments. He had to push the limits of his sea bag to get it all in. What a great visit we had with him. I can't tell you how hard it was to say good-bye at the airport. We saw another family waiting at the airport to greet their daughter home from overseas. Such love and support shown! Whew....

Hey Dee - have you heard from Jacob lately? Haven't heard from you in awhile!

I am sure Pat and Mary Jo are breathing a sigh of relief that all the boxes arrived. Mary Jo, look at happened with the biscuit box! If any or a good number of the boxes you had shipped, I guess they would have had Valentine's Day presents! It all worked out!

Garrett didn't wear his uniform. Not sure what he was thinking... He grabbed his dress whites! He hauled them all the way here, but couldn't wear them since it's winter. I think what it really was, he waited until the last minute to pack his clothes for the trip and kind of panicked. He almost didn't make his flight because he worked the day he left and they kept him at the shop longer than he had planned.

MaryJo - WHEW! We can breathe a sigh of relief that all the packages arrived in time for the sailors! Enjoy Jon's homecoming. Beth - I am happy you had such a grand visit with Garrett:)

Well Ladies! All the boxes have arrived in Japan - both mine and Pat's. Garrett is hand carrying the letters and ornaments from Beth. I think HS-14 is going to have a great Christmas! I so appreciate the love and support from all of you to let our sailors know we care! We may not be able to do huge amounts, but we can make a difference one sailor at a time.

Beth: can't wait for my moment with my son! Did Garrett wear his uniform at the concert or at church? I know our church always wants to recognize their military men and women when they come home - so they recognize them in service with a round of applause. Last time before Jon was deployed he got a standing ovation!

And guess what? Jon just told me that the box of biscuits I sent a month ago finally showed up on the ship! He said the box was pretty messed up but the biscuits were still good in the airtight containers I packed them in. There was no mold or problem with them, and he and his friends virtually annihilated them the same day! I thought they were lost!

Last night our school had the holiday chorus event. Garrett stood in the back just for me... I could see him clearly while I was on stage with the faculty choir and someone in the audience commented afterwards on my brilliant smile. It was generated because of him! I introduced him to a bunch of my teacher friends who are proud military supporters. He stood so tall. A good representative of HS-14. Cool moment.

What a great picture Beth! THose letters and ornaments are going to be loved by the sailors! I'm just so excited about the way this has all come together. You know, to date I have place 8 sailors for "adoption" so to speak! I'm waiting for Natalie to get me another list of names as I still have people who want to participate. THis is going to be such a wonderful Christmas!

Yesterday I covered for another teacher who is out. She is the sponsor of our Student Council. I had the pleasure of sitting with these marvelous kids as they wrote letters to HS-14. They had the most insightful questions about the project and the sailors. They took a lot of care with the letters, even how they got folded and put into the envelopes. We should finish the ornaments today. Lots of fun. Thanks for giving us direction, Mary Jo!

look at the top bar of the comment box and you see little pictures. Click on the camera and you get a box; then browse for the picture you want and click "add"; then it puts the code into your comment box and you still have to hit the "add comment" button.
