Well, I haven't heard anything yet from my recruit. She said I can't call her my sailor till get gets her cap. She doesn't want me jinxing her in anyway. Although when she left, she wasn't even nervous! I of course being the Mom, was a basket case. I hated that she left when she did though because when she knew she was going to sign up, she went to live with her Dad for the last few months before she left so she could spend some time with him since most of her life she has lived with me. I understood her decision and support her but I didn't have to like it. I spoke with her Dad this morning and neither of us have even received her package yet or the form. I emailed her recruiter this morning, hoping he can look it up for us. I am SO glad I found you guys. I would still be a basket case otherwise. I have learned SO much about what she is doing, it isn't even funny. I feel like I have suddenly become a Navy walking talking Encylopedia (Does everyone go through that?) So far, she told me she knows her A school will be at GL and after that she doesn't know anything. I have figured out by poking around that pretty much every recruit that arrived the same day, has a PIR of 01/08/09. I pray she is NOT Grad & Go, because she has two families having divorced parents. I don't want her to feel like she has to choose or that if she wanted us both there she will not feel a discomfort. I don't care if we have to hang together..... I have been totally over it for YEARS, but I don't want her to feel any weirdness on her special day. So are there any divorced parents that can give me tips on how to make sure she is aware Mom is good with however things pan out as long as we get to be there?

Hello Everyone!! Hope you all are having a fabulous Sunday :) I have not been on lately I apologize. I watch 7 of my cousins through the week (different ones different days not all at once) Not a whole lot to update. Hubby had planned on being finished up with all his schooling end Jan to first of Feb, but now it looks like they may finish up before Christmas stand down! I know he wont mind. He graduated back in March and was on hold for 4 months to even start his A school. This will be his second winter at GL, though the first time he was in BC. We are getting kinda antsy now being so close to finishing up here and finding out where he will be going for his C schooling.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and all is well with your sailors :)

Hi everyone, haven't been here for awhile. Hope everyone is doing fine. Amanda finallly started her ATT classes. She is doing them at night and is not too happy about that. She goes from 4-12 midnight. At least she is not doing all the cleaning she use to have to do.

<--- my Hero! Hi everyone, I am new to the group and to Navy Moms.com. I am an overly emotional and extremely proud Mom to my little girl who recently left for boot camp. Although we have been preparing for her departure for almost a year now, I can't seem to not cry at the drop of a pin. I am SO proud of her to say the least and more so proud that she has chosen to follow in the family footsteps.... something I was unable to do. My Father, Brothers, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews ETC have all served our country in one branch or another and she is the first female to attempt to join and successfully do so. I am glad I found this group since I am a Hoosier, it will be nice to be able to talk to other moms that are in my boat (No pun intended) or have been there. I can't wait for her first phone call! I feel like a part of me is missing, we have been so close all her life. is there anyone out there that had their child just leave for boot camp? She left on the 9th and was sawrn in on the 10th. Hope to hear from other Indiana Moms soon. Anchor's Aweigh.

Donnita, I think that correct and current orders should be available to him via BUPERS (his online personnel matters). Tell him to check there and with his command -- then, whether he does or does not, stop worrying about it! This is one of those things that's between him and the Navy... Hugs! k.

Donnita, my sailor never received his hard copy for deployment until he had been in the Middle East for 2 weeks. He knew 6 months out when he was to deploy but they changed it 3 times. The last being the day we picked him up for his 1 week leave. We stopped to buy him dinner and his phone rang and they were calling to give him his new orders. He said had he knew them the day before he would not of come home because they had moved it up on him so he was leaving 2 weeks earlier and it made him being with his squadron one day before they departed. So I'm thinking it's nothing to worrry about.

When a sailor is changing assignments, how long before they have to be there should they get thier harcopy with orders? My son was told about 7 months ago that he was going to Japan in Jan. but still has no hardcopy. Others that are changing already got thiers. I seem to be stressing but he says no need in doing that. It won't change anything....lol
