I am glad Hans will be staying home Dec 23- 25 with the family. My husband Burt is taking a floating vacation day from work on Dec 23 and is off the rest of the week for Christmas. Burt was feeling like Hans was spending more time w/ his friends than with him. Hans would be going off with a friend for dinner or a visit when Burt was home in the evening. My daughter Heidi and I are able to be with Hans during the day because we home school. Hans rented a car yesterday and followed a college friend home to Pulaski Tn to spend time with him. He'll be home later this afternoon.

Kim, sounds like the usual leave - run run run! So glad you've had your share of time with him though! Enjoy! We'll be here to scoop you up after he leaves again. I know I needed some scooping when my son went back 2 weeks ago...

We are enjoying Hans' leave home from Japan. He came home on Dec 14 so we have him through Christmas but he has to leave early the next day. Hans spend Dec 17 with us and his sister on her 19th b-day. He and I went to a college graduation on Dec 19 of some his close friends and Hans spend some time w/them before they left for home. He has been running here and there but he will be staying home Dec 23- 25. He'll spend the rest of his time with our family before he has to fly back to Japan.

T-Lynn I love that poem and it is so true about all of us. Remember our toast and candle everyone at 4pm eastern on Christmas Day. Looking forward to it.

Love the poem, T-Lynn!

We have friends in Vegas, but rarely get to see them, so this was a nice visit. Most of the time hubby drives down and has to come straight back up, but this is slow time for steel so the dispatcher could let him stay for a couple nights. LOL on the pennies... we had a nice dinner and I got a pair of lovely earrings. In Vegas, that isn't so inexpensive. And we couldn't walk very far without people asking for photos of us in costume!!!!

Hi all,

T-Lynn great poem!

Val, traditions are great, until there is no one to do them with any more. glad you got your shopping done. Have a GREAT day baking cookies and catching up with your friend, sounds wonderful.

Cookies - fun time in Vegas - sailors coming home and families arriving safely - it appears we all have been blessed this Winter Solstice Day :)

Once upon a starry night
I made a wish for a place to go
To be where one can share their delights
And sometimes their woes.

Isn't it funny and nice
You all must have made that same wish too
Because somehow we all found this place to share our good advice
And gossip - a recipe or two.

So good night dear freinds
I thank my lucky stars
And you know my gossip will not end
I get to come here and share - keeping you all near and from my heart never far.
Hugs TLynn

My son got a great deal on Travelocity. No military discount but still a very good deal from Tokyo to KC.

I used to like playing the slot machines...but now I am too cheap to give up any of my hard earned money. I would much rather spend the money going to dinner with my good friends..now the hot tub that I can go for!!! I always enjoy getting away for a few days.

T-Lynn so glad your son got there and Carol that your sister got home.

Got all but one person bought for today and feel so much more relieved. Tomorrow is cookie day with my best friends. It is a tradition we started about 12 years ago when all the kids were little. We alternate homes and bake tons of cookies. It is a wonderful day and all the kids are either grown or in high school/college now...but no one wants to miss cookie day.

Have a good night all!
