Linda - I see you are headed for Japan, what ship is your son Kyle on? My daughter is a DC on the USS Essex.

Pthomas, My daughter as you can see is in Japan. She went over in April.

Is there anyone there with a daughter in the Navy currently living in southern California and daughter going or now stationed in Japan?

Hi to everyone

My name is linda and my son kyle is in japan. I have been following the goings on for some time but have never joined in. I was wondering if anyone has the direct number for the navy lodge in sasebo. We are heading over in november and would like to see if we can get a room.

Thanks for your help.

Well Carol, honestly, no. I wouldn't want to trade places. But I was melting in over 100 degree heat these last few days. I don't have AC at home because I live on a mesa and get breezes off the ocean, but even those breezes have been so hot. I remember seeing fall colors when I visited upstate NY in October years back - so pretty! And sweater weather too!

Sharon congrats on your sailor! I love Facebook!

Wow hard to imagine some of you are getting snow. I live in a suburb of Kansas City and it is beautiful here. True fall weather with cool temps and changing trees. We have had an unseasonably cool and wet summer so no telling what the winter will bring. I hope if any of you live in the Atlanta area that you are safe and not experiencing too much flooding!

Good evening Navy Moms and Dads, I haven't been on our site in about a month.....family stuff going on. I'm trying to catch up on all my sites. My son is up for promotion for Petty Officer, Third Class. He took the written exam last week. I am soooo proud of him!!!!!! He made the trip and climbed Mt. Fuji last month and what a time he had!!! He took the trip with 30 other guys, mostly all Marines and my Navy boy. He told me he was 3rd up the mountain. And, when I saw the picture of him on top it was awesome!!!! I was up until 1am looking at all his pictures on facebook. The pictures made me feel like he was not so far away!!!! He seems to be having the time of his life which is all that I could ask for! Talk again soon!

Well - as we speak they are under weigh again! At least this fall deployment is not at long as the last one. Can't wait to find out the results of the most recent promotion test, our ET took the test while we were visiting in Japan. This time our sailor wants us to meet her at a liberty port - I can only imagine what that will cost. We expect to see our sailor in January for her wedding - don't forget those leave chits!! She couldn't believe it when I told her we'd already begun to get snow in the Springs! Can you believe this weather? Once she goes back to Japan after her wedding she'll be able to drop her paperwork to request her next duty station. Unaccompanied tours can have some benefits. I hope all is well with all of you sailor parents!!

Morning all. Any of you wishing for fall weather are welcome to trade places with me!! We enjoyed a beautiful weekend with temps in the 70's only to wake to sideways blowing mist then snow yesterday. More of the same expected today and tomorrow. Right from summer to winter. Ugh!!

Is it autumn already? I couldn't tell - it's been so hot here lately-jeez! I welcome the cooler weather, if it comes...........(sizzle)
