When Katie came home after graduating A school in April 2009, the Navy flew her home from Chicago to DTW and then they flew her to Japan.....Detroit-Chicago-Tokyo-Fukuoka and a bus ride to Sasebo. Where is your daughter being stationed?
Claudia Comment by Claudia on November 15, 2009 at 8:30pm
My son's flight to Japan was booked from San Diego where he was at C school. We had to pay for him to fly home to WV and back to San Diego. He also had to pay for his hotel room for the night when he stayed there. Since he was released from C school he couldn't even go back to the base in San Diego and stay there. So he had to stay in a hotel in San Diego over night and get his flight that the Navy booked the next day. I think they reimbursed him for the hotel, however. Pittsburgh would be the airport they should have booked him from and they wouldn't do it. I have no idea why. I know this isn't much help but it sounds like the same thing they are doing to your daughter.

Can someone help me with a ?. My daughter will get leave once she graduates from A-school Dec. 10th. Her next duty station is Japan which she has to be there by Jan. 4th.She is telling me they book the flight from Point A-Point B and in order to re route it to come home for a 20 day leave we pay to get it re routed. We could just drive 13 hours and get her but then there is no guarentee they will book her from the hometown airport to Japan. Help so confused.

Back on September 4th 2006. So all is fine now - and that basment is so clean! I just remember loosing so many pictures, items - that can never be replaced and just didn't want you to go through that. So glad to know the water is not coming up and the rain is letting up. Funny we are to get rain tonight. I hope that means the sunny days I had are coming your way :) Sweet dream Debi. And to all too. TLynn

T-Lynn, the rain has mostly stopped and yes, the house is ok :) When did your basement flood??? I'm so sorry! My sister has gone through that several times. Wish I could be there to help you!
So glad your Mom is doing so well through all of that! Hug her for us! Hugs to you too!

Debi are you still dry? I am really putting out the positive vibes for you to stay dry. My basement was flooded with 3 and 1/2 feet of water NOT FUN! Keep us posted. Update about Mom - the cancer that was found - has NOT spread anywhere. The doctor stated that if her uterus is just removed - she will be just fine. A real possibility of no treatment of any kind after it is removed. Now she will see her primary and from there hopeful a surgery to remove it. At this point - she is doing fine - you never know anything is wrong with her. Will keep everyone posted Thanks for all the posivitve thoughts for my Mom. Talk later - I have to email the relatives. Hugs TLynn

Hi Kim....hope your bad weather clears up soon! Areas of Norfolk, VA Beach and Newport News were hit pretty hard (very high winds and major flooding). As far as I know, the bases are fine. Two beach houses were swallowed up by the ocean in the Outer Banks of NC. It gets crazy there! Yes, there are many evacuation routes...we've been here for 3 years and haven't seen it get bad enough to evacuate the whole area (we hear that's rare). A lot of neighborhoods were evacuated to higher ground yesterday though.

I put it on my facebook too (good idea)
Wamom they go in cycles. They get used to it but they get homesick too. I think the first year is the worst.
Debi, we are getting it today, but it won't be that bad. How are our naval bases doing down there? My son was at Virginia Beach two years ago from fathers day until March and they didn't get a bad storm. I saw alot of signs for evacuation route but never knew how that would work.

Sandy D.....thank you for the positive vibes!! I really think it's my support system here that kept that water from my house!!! Skype is such a huge blessing to all of us....how thrilling to see the grandbaby walking :) Happy for you!
