SandyMcD, thanks for the update! That does sound like a looong trip. But how cool that he gets to stay at the Navy Lodge for a little bit and live like a king for a day!

When my son got to Atsugi all the BEQ were full so he got to stay in the BOQ for a few weeks till the USS GW set sail. He loved all those perks! Then reality happens...lol

Hang in there, Mama! Glad you heard from him so quickly, though!

Good morning, All. We said our goodbyes to Ryan Saturday, and yes, I cried like a baby. We all did. But, I'm actually doing better than I thought I would. I think I got all my tears out of the way the week before he left and now I've decided that I'm happier for him than I am sad for me. Got an email from him this morning. He's at Misawa right now due to plane trouble but he's ok with that because he's at the Navy lodge in a room by himself with tv, etc. What a long trip it must have been though! Jacksonville to Atlanta to Washington to Alaska to Japan!

When Daniel was in P-cola for A school I bought him a tick from there to San Antonio and they rerouted his ticket from there to Japan. As long as it doen't cost anymore than the original ticket other wise u have to pay the difference. Daniel said the military has a set price and as long as it stays at that price it can be done but they need to go check with the ticketing people. Now my ticket I got him to come prom P-cola to SA was expensive because he didn't let me know till it was like 4 hours before the flight but it was so worth it to see him.

Does anyone have a sailor stationed at Misawa Air Base?

Hi all. My daughter is in Japan now. She too had to pay for her ticket home they paid for her to fly to Seattle then on a military transport to Japan. She hates it there also. I am hoping that it gets better for her once her ship gets back to port and she is finally on it.

My daughter's tickets from A school had her go from P-cola to Seattle to Tokyo. We bought her a ticket home - Denver- and had already planned a trip to Seattle so she left from there on her report date. Once they get to their destination they turn their tickets in and if they aren't all used the navygets the money back. But you or she will have to pay for her to get home

Tresa, where is the flight for 890 from and to Tokyo? That is pretty cheap. I have been looking at $1200. thanks, kathy

I miss my son in Okinawa, can't wait until Feb. when he gets to come back to the US. You know I looked at flights to Japan for Christmas, The cheapest I found was $890 to Tokyo and then you had to book a separate flight to Okinawas I guess. Expensive.

I can get her a 1 way ticket from Bilox to RDU for $90 and I was hoping they could book her flight from RDU to Japan. but she tells me they can't do that. It is so confusing. Her leave starts the day she graduates. I just can't understand why we can't just put her on the plane to come on home and let them handle the rest.

When my son wanted to divert his plane ticket here and then to Japan he didnt have a problem and he didnt have to pay anything although he thought he would. He worked it out with the people in Great Lakes because that was where his school was. Have her check with the folks there to see if she can get it diverted without a cost to her.
