Hi - we are buried!
And it is still coming down.
I'm having Baileys in my coffee this morning. The pet turtle is hiding. She does not want out of her box - so that has us wondering what is coming our way in weather. Otherwise the men of the house had some fun - both snow blowers were out and roaing and throwing snow. Will talk later - I need my coffee :). TLynn

I'm always at a bit of a loss when picking out for sailors. And for one I don't know... that's very hard. A translator might be nifty. An IOU on a deposit on a plane ticket?

Now you have me thinking about all my Navy Christmases.

There are maps of Japan for Garmin, but they are far from complete, not really useful. Part of the problem is that there are so many odd streets, entire neighborhoods with one address (ours had 22 houses!!), and roads with duplicate names that standard GPS maps can't cope with such unique cartography.

Personally, and this is simply my opinion, I'd never purchase electronics of any kind for anyone in Japan. Not unless they ask for something specific. Japan is where the cutting edge technology originates, and the NEX is right on top of that. Cheaper, no taxes and no shipping and often things you can't get in the US yet. I had a VCR before anyone in my family in the US could get one! Just a thought, and I know it is hard to think of things to get sailors overseas which they would enjoy.

HI - and a part of me is sore from my first session of Winter Exercise. ( You - guessed it - I'm sitting on the sore part) Thank you all for your 2 cents worth. Claudia - I never thought about them given up their freeedom for ours - very good point. Val - I'll look at that blog soon. Kim - never thought of Kahlua in the pie - but nice touch. Navy Dad - I have this vision of you drinking your ham sandwich . Have to ask - do you soak your brats in beer before grilling? And what beer do you use? Our weather alert is going off. Actaully it has several times today. WE are receiving the third blizzard of snow. As of right now - the news is telling of school closings - business' closings - etc My hubby is not going to work tomorrow = creating a to do list for him :) ANd has anyone heard from Anita? Worried about her. Everyone sweet dreams and stay warm TLynn

Well said Claudia.

Sandy: I put Kahlua in my pecan pie. Do you think it would taste good in the Cranberry Walnut pie?

Claudia, he can travel in and out of Japan with his ID and his leave papers. The passport is primarily for other countries and ports, or if he deploys with a ship and needs to travel through countries which do not have an agreement with the US.

Cora, sorry your daughter is having such a rough time. My son had one friend who felt the same way as your daughter. She finally got involved in more activities when she wasn't working and it helped somewhat. It very hard when Brooklyn is there and you are here and all you want to do is put your arms around her and comfort her. Please know I'll be praying for her.

Anita and Cora - I have no words. Just sending hugs.
Welcome new Moms and jump in - we are only close because we share :). So start sharing - and we share our ears when needed too. TLynn
