OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hello my name is Rubie and my first born just went to Boot camp today. I received the script call I made it okay call. It made my night to hear his voice and tell him i love him, but now what am I to wait for. I already wrote one letter tonight even though he just left today. And it may sound crazy I know, but just like many mothers and fathers. I already miss my kid like crazy.

Not crazy, mine shipped today too. Super sad

I keep getting told they are okay and great hands and I truly believe it. I sue do hope after P days the 8 weeks of training fly by quick.

Kerri same for you as I posted for Rubie, Your Emotions will be all over the place and know it is ok to cry, Your Daughter will be fine and I too will put info on your My page. Please reach out if you need anything!

Hello Rubie,

My daughter left June 5th, it was so hard after I received "the call".  The lack of communication is so hard to handle.  Rubie, please believe me it does get better.  I just received my first letter.  I also wrote the day she left and a letter everyday since.  My daughter is on her 16th day and it feels like forever.  I was very surprised how positive her letter was.  I just had to remembered our children are safe.  That brought  me peace.  My thoughts are with you Rubie, I know how you are feeling..

Brenda

Hello Brenda,

Thank you for sharing your words of strength and encouragement. I can't wait to get his first letter. At this point I can't wait to get his box of personal stuff.

Is that when I know where I can send letters too? Or do I need to wait for him to write me?

Good Morning, Rubie Welcome to Navy Moms. Let me tell you any way you feel is not crazy at all. Me on the other hand went crazy crying I was a Mess at home and work. My Son Baby of the family signed up Jr. Year was in ROTC for all 4 yrs. thought I was ready but I have to say when he graduated and I got the call they moved it up from Nov. to July I couldnt breathe when I hung up the phone. so please dont hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Everyone is so good to share and give encouragement. I help out on Boot Camp Moms come join there is so much info, and believe me when I say you will know more that your Son, he hasnt a clue as to what he will experience or what tests he will go thru. I have learned so much and when speaking to my Son the times I did while in BC I knew more than him. I even started learning the Lingo they will speak, and he really got a kick out of that. Also whenever feeling down reach out, you will not be alone on this Journey. I will put some sites down for you to read so check your My page ok. Again Welcome!

Thank you sooooo much. I am a mess today. Went to work to get distracted, let me to YOU. Not a good idea at all.  I've been a mess all day.  I found this morning my youngest who is 15 sleeping in his brother bed, not thinking clearly, only that he was trying to take over his room

And my son hasn't been gone for 24 hrs, yet! Well I was sooo wrong. It's the way his brother was coping with it. Just like your son,  mine did ROTC all 4 years as well. But none of this prep me. Lol. Again thank you so much for here with support.

Rubie and Kerri hang in there!  I went through it when my son left on 5/29.  What helps me is that I count the Friday's and I joined this group and learned as much as I could to follow along on what my son could be learning and doing.  I did my research and read a lot.  I also joined the Facebook Navy groups and would look at video and pictures of previous boot camp divisions doing things that your son's will do.  Everyone is so helpful here and has been through the same thing as you both.  I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life like I did the first week he was gone.  Keep yourself busy and definitely write letters from the day they leave and hold on to them till you receive that form letter with the address.  Start reviewing travel just to get an idea how much it will cost to get to the graduation.  Stay positive and keep in touch!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for the advise and knowledge to everyone. And it's nice to know that I am not going to crazy with writing him already.  Even though I don't have any idea where to send it.

My son left June 14th and this has been the longest and hardest week of my life!!! Cried like a baby when I got the box!

I am so worried of crying like crazy when I get the box. Sniffing his clothes.  Knowing me i will lay with shirt just about every night.
