We'll, it's happened...my son just left for boot camp and I'm a total mess. I know there are more of you other there in the same boat, and it's nice to know I'm not alone.
Melissa, you are very welcome. I am glad to help.
My son left yesterday and I was a mess.....did well till we got "the call" at 10:30pm...I knew it would be short and it was extremely short. My son said I made it to boot camp, I am safe you will get a box in a week and then hung up...12 seconds...when he started talking I quickly said I LOVE YOU!, then when the line went dead I cried and my husband and I were sad for a bit and then could not sleep till 12:30 :( I went to work today, exhausted, but tonight I am a little better and started to write him a letter. Praying for you and your son.
Dragonfly42 you will be fine, now the test begins, it is a test as much as for your Loved one. Please know you are never alone on this site and please reach out to any of us. Your Emotions will be all over the place for a few weeks I encourage you to stay busy as much as you can, begin writing letters, planning PIR reading on everything about what your Loved One will be learning and doing. Make your decorations for the door of hotel. It will keep your mind busy. Reach out if you need where to begin. Best wishes.
Thank you for letting me know your story. I'm afraid I'm not going to get to sleep tonight and I have to work tomorrow but I warned them that I would be a complete mess...and probably would be for a little while. Thankfully I work with a great group and they're very supportive. Thanks for your prayers I will keep your family in mine as well.
Just think, our sons may end up in the same division...
My Son left for BC yesterday (6/13) as well. I feel for you, as I completely understand what you are going through right now. This is the hardest thing ever, and the emotions can be overwhelming.
I keep thinking of how fast these last few months leading up to him shipping out came, and I am hoping the next few months go by just as fast.
Please feel free to reach out if you need to.
Chin up, Mama! :)
Boogies Mom I keep thinking about how fast the last 18 years have gone. He was in DEP for almost a year before shipping out and I thought I was prepared but I am still not ready...but it's too late now! :)
Thanks for being here and being supportive. I promise to reach out if I need to if you promise to do the same. We have to be Navy mom strong!
