OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Anyone have a son/daughter leaving for BC on October 30, 2017. My son just recieved his ship date. We are now in the waiting game. It is nice to have time but stressful as well, too many unknowns!

My daughter is leaving October 4th, so nervous, proud, excited and stressed all at once. Good luck to your son.

My son is also leaving Oct 4. I know how you are feeling! I'm anxious to know when graduation will be.

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 12/01/2017 for those who ship on 10/04/2017. Since he is shipping at the end of the week, it could be 12/08/2017 for some if they are held over for the next TG. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what to expect.

Check your My Page.

My son is set for 10/04 but was told it could come earlier. Reading through all of the information is helpful, but I am also feeling a little overwhelmed! Who knew we could go through so many emotions 24 hrs. A day!
Hello...finally another mom with a son/daughter leaving for boot camp October30th! My son ships October 30th! Yes time but still so much to anticipate. The holidays and not knowing how far along they will be by then stresses me...I hear they have to go to boot camp longer because of holidays??

Jpz123, No, they will not be in BC longer because of the holidays. There are extra days built in.

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 12/29/2017 for those who ship on 10/30/2017. It could be 12/22/2017 for some if they are in a Push Division and are placed in one of the last divisions from the week before. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.

That is good news. One of the recruiters said she was held a week or more longer because she went in over holidays. Thank you for your response. Do you know if his A school is in Great Lakes will he just stay put there when he finishes boot camp. Looks like we will be in Great Lakes for Christmas.

Ten Fridays does happen for some who ship on Wednesday or Thursday in November and December at times, but not for those who ship at the beginning of the week.

Jpz123, the "A" School is across the street. He may be able to go home for part of the holidays since he is having PIR during the holiday stand down at the "A" Schools, but he will have to check in first and find out if he is eligible for Leave. See the info in PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend for more info on that and more.

My daughter just got her ship date October 30 proud and nervous mom

My son is leaving for BC on October 3, 2017.  I am just beginning to sort thru the information. I am having a hard time pulling up the intro files from the home page.  Still working on the code names for everything as well.

USS Mom Crew, I left info on your My Page, including a link that will help with the new terms.
