We are also known as the Warm & Fuzzie Obama Mamas - and are proud to support our president! Agnostic - Humanist - Atheist - Jewish - Buddhist - Democratic - Independent - Christian - Deist - searching .....all peaceful peeps are welcome!

When you have achieved an open mind you can then open your heart to humanity. Commit charitable acts, volunteer, help those who cannot help themselves. Look around you and see the world as it is and do your part to make it better. Establish the values of great people who have wandered down this very same road before you. Begin where they left off, build a better world for those to follow you or teach them how to journey down their own path.

An open mind equals an open heart which ultimately leads to world peace.

Kephen Merancis

If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." ~ John F. Kennedy

That is kind of a sad state of affairs MML, "Sorry, come back when you are more miserable....." We can do better than that, cant we?

I signed up for being a Big Sister but was told that they had plenty of them in my area and only needed Big Brothers.
My son tried to get help when he was in Iraq. He knew that things that used to make him smile didnt do it anymore. He was told that he wasnt in bad enough sthape.

MM Karen, that is so sad. It sounds like he needs help. I hope he gets it.

Jill, Big Sister????????
if you can find them, talk to people that have been involved, but are no longer involved in your area. It is really difficult for some one outside of your area to
comment. I am thinking of your leisure time activity, and the time you want to devote to it, BS is a 12 month program, much more rigid than they will tell you, while they want you to sign up.

Here in my new hometown there is a program to help homeless families - I signed up to train to be on site with the families. I am looking forward to helping with this. I am very concerned about those that are homeless - have been reading about homelessness too. I am also considering being a big sister..........have any of you ever done this?

We recently had a tea-bagger rally at a local park and guess what? They had to bus them in! The local paper reported "about 100 people" and then next day had to recant saying they erred, there were actually about 250 people, they "did their count before the buses arrived." Pretty sad when you have to bus in the wingnuts because you don't have enough of your own to make a good showing,

I hope the sons and daughters of these women dont make threats like their mothers do. Our children are standing next to them.

Nancy, I am so sorry for your family's loss. My father in law passed yesterday morning, coincidentally.

Inga, I hate to think where it will all end. I don't understand it at all - the kind of mentality that takes time out to espouse hate. My neck is sore from doing so much head shaking these days...
