We are also known as the Warm & Fuzzie Obama Mamas - and are proud to support our president! Agnostic - Humanist - Atheist - Jewish - Buddhist - Democratic - Independent - Christian - Deist - searching .....all peaceful peeps are welcome!

When you have achieved an open mind you can then open your heart to humanity. Commit charitable acts, volunteer, help those who cannot help themselves. Look around you and see the world as it is and do your part to make it better. Establish the values of great people who have wandered down this very same road before you. Begin where they left off, build a better world for those to follow you or teach them how to journey down their own path.

An open mind equals an open heart which ultimately leads to world peace.

Kephen Merancis

If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." ~ John F. Kennedy

In the South Pacific, many of the islands had never seen any foreigners until they were invaded by Japan. When the U.S. Navy ran the Japanese out, and set up stations on these islands, they brought a curious prosperity to these people. Gave them rations, cokes, cigarettes and such, and when a ship was sunk, supplies washed up on the shore: cargo. Cargo was sent by the gods.

I'm watching "Meet the Natives," on TV. Five guys from the Island of Tanna in the S. Pacific. They are on a peace mission to the U.S. Many years ago, they were a people at war, until a man they call "Tom Navy," came to the island and showed them how to live in peace. It was the end of WWII, and the Navy had driven the Japanese off. He taught them a bit about the U.S., and gave them food and cargo. Tom Navy told them to live in peace, and left money and a promise to come back.

They heard that America was fighting a war, and so they're looking for Tom Navy to help spread the word of peace that he gave them; if they can't find Tom Navy, they are to tell the President that peace is the most important thing.

My netbook is very sensitive. I have to keep erasing and stating over. I really prefer the big keyboard and mouse on the family computer, Uli.

Is the sadness connected to all the deployments, Uli?

Hi one and all,
I must tell you, that being on this Base-Camp, is an unbelievable experience this time around, we have been here before, this time it is a very different mood.
Have the oppurtunity to have conversatins with Base/Camp Administration, wow, what a learning experience.
Sorry to have to tell you, but many of the n4m things are scuffed at by the Marine command, active duty personel is advise no to discuss anything other than personel thins with home. The mood on this Base is one of a strange sadness, that's about the best way to discribe it. I say that, since I have seen this Base during different times.
Interesting what the police/security forces are aware off.

For all of you Happy homes with your Sailors present, enjoy !!!!

Snow sounds pretty impressive Steve & Cher. I am guessing that lots of sailors will be delayed on the way home for Christmas.

Eileen - I did not get many calls, but got a letter almost every week. More communication in A school. Now I am happy when i get a call every 4-6 weeks from Italy. My son is enjoying his independence and as a 20 year old he deserves it. I do miss him sometimes - but think that it is just part of life. I did not call my parents all that often after I left home either. But it is bittersweet to see the birds soar out of the nests, isn't it?!

Our snow plows have come through but we had to be patient while the boss-lady tried to tell us where we could or couldn't put the snow we were pulling off the cars. Hubby took that opportunity to move one of the cars way away at that point, later he said he did that to keep from getting huffy with the lady. Ah, digging out. Today, He's going out to try to make up for yesterday sin ce he is behind on his shopping, and I'm going to finish the straggler cards and maybe get a decent batch of cookies done. I planned ahead and did all the grocery shopping on Thursday and Friday. All I really have left after that is laundry. My sailor's BF got stranded in VA, spent Friday and Saturday nights in the Bob Evans parking lot in Spotsylvania. We were in touch via chat, and he was fine at last report. Pretty resourceful for a civilian, yo. My son was more concerned, since he was helplessly just out of the path of the storm. He and his GF posted a pic on Facebook of the two of them, they look content. I emailed him at 5 AM and told him that since his buddy's cell phone battery is dead and the charger is buried under tons of junk in the car, he should endeavor to reach him via chat, and maybe get in the car and take a drive.I know they got hit pretty hard along 95, but I imagine that they had the road under control by daybreak.

Eileen write those questions down. When I saw my son I forgot all my questions. My son didnt get to call after Battle Stations. He had pulled something in his leg right before they started but wasnt not going to do it. He had to go straight to the hospital when they were over but he still says he loved Battle Stations.

Cher, we did about the same. The cars are still buried, and no snow plows have come through. My wife is working from home via computer. We made a big pot of soup, and today plan gingerbread men. Someone left my back gate open, but the dog isn't interested in wandering.
My son has an English Bulldog who is crazy for the snow. She digs tunnels and leaps out of them at whatever she imagines is there. She eats a bunch of it, so has to go out again 20 minutes later.

Eileen, you should get at least one more call--after battle stations. Our son called 3 times that day! He needed to talk so he could stay awake, lol PIR will be here before you know it.
Cher Comment by Cher 13 hours ago
Steve, what did you do with your day yesterday? We are completely buried. Hubby went out and shoveled around 10 AM then we waited a while, fell asleep after lunch and when we checked again, we couldn't open the front door anymore.
