I'm sure as you learn to navigate through here you will find what you need. Until then stay and hopefully someone will find you. This group has really blossomed here lately so hang in there. Pensacola sounds right a lot of the Aviation people go there. My son's recrutier is in the aviation field and that is where he was for some of his training. He is almost to the end of his recruting stint and he is hoping to possible join the flight crew of the Blue Angels. I think Pensacola is where they are based.

Hi, my son is currently in bootcamp at GL, PIR 11/13/09. He is also scheduled for A training as Avaiation Machinist's Mate and I was told by his recruiter that he would be going to Pensacola. I have only heard from my son twice so far - 2 brief letters. I have no idea what time, if any, he will get after graduation before he leaves for Pensacola. Can you tell me anything about the process, if you know? I don't know if I should be calling the recruiter but I am feeling uncomfortable asking them so many questions. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

kathleen 3 you should be getting a grad packet soon and that will tell you if your son is a grad n go. Our recruiter kept insisting we would have the weekend to visit with our son he never mentioned grad and go. Towards the end of BC you sailor will be the best person to keep you informed, He will know as much as anyone else can tell you and that is not always alot of info.
My son was a Nuke and a grad N go. He left for Goose Creek SC at 7:00pm the same day as PIR we were able to spend time with him at the base for a little while and the we were able to stay with him at the airport until his flight left also. After he arrived at GC he had weekend liberty so we were able to talk to him on the phone. If they are not a grad and go they usually leave some time the following week for their duty station. Then they will have limited weekend liberty It will start immediately after PIR. They have to be back on base each night but can spend the day with family. Usually the first two Divisions numbers to grad. are the grad n go divisions. The grad. packet it will explain some of this to you, and it will contain your parking pass so you will want to keep track of that. PIR will be a very memorable experience for you. Hope this helps It has been a year since we went thru it. If you have any other question just ask.

Hi, My son left yesterday for Groton Ct for sub school, then I think from what I understand he goes back to GL for A-School. Is there anything that you can fill me in with. Thanks Rhonda

Yes!!! My daughter is at GL now waiting on A school to start. Graduation was this past weekend.
I am hoping that there is not a long delay. Bootcamp waws so structured and I'm afraid they can get quite relaxed waiting for school to start.
