I'm sure you are all busy with the holidays and send boxes and talking to your Sailors and if you were lucky at this time of  year to have them  home i bet you are still squeezing them.  got to make sure they have those marks and memories when they head back.  We are having a wonderful time.  My Sailor and my dauther are headed to Caberafe', hmm did i spell that right?, tomorrow along with a cousin and friend.  Wishing you all the best!

Hi btmom - My son wants to be a pilot ultimately. He has applied (still waiting to hear) for the NROTC scholarship. If he get that, he will hopefully go to his first pick school Embry Riddle Aeronautical Univ. in Daytona. His back up plan is to enter the Navy through the Advanced Electronics/computers program or Nuke program (if he tests into it). He still might apply to the Naval academy after his first year of school. Seems like he has many avenues that will take him to his final goal of being an aviator. Exciting times for him!

Kris,  my son was in DEP thru TC.  The recruiters there are great guys, very good with the kids.  He had a chance to visit the schools in TC when the recruiters went in there for fitness days etc.  Brandon left for the Navy March 9th, is a hopsital corpsman and currently stationed in Sasebo, Japan.  What is your son going to do?

Hi MarianneKT's Mom,

I'm originally from Milan.  I have an aunt who lives in Ypsi.  Small world.  Rich celebrated his 19th birthday and will be celebrating his 20th on board the ship.  Life sure is different than it was a few years ago!

Hi kjkooz, I'm from Arcadia, about halfway between Traverse City and Ludington.

Welcome KJkooz and Colleen - I'm from Ypsi, originally from Lansing.  Katie is a DC on the Essex out of Sasebo.  Celebrated her 21st bday and now will be there for Christmas before coming home.  We will celebrate both after she arrives;)

Hi Everyone!  I'm a new Mom to this site & group too.  My son,Rich, is an OS on the Stockdale.  They deployed 3 weeks ago.  He was in the DEP program here on the West Side of MI in 08-09, Grand Rapids area. kjkooz, we have a place near West Branch.  Are you near there?  I will miss having him here for Christmas.  Those of you who will have your sailor home for the Holidays, enjoy them and their time home!!  We will celebrate Christmas in June, when he's back.  Is the potluck still going on for January?  We're trying to see if we can make it - weather plays a big part.
