Hope everyone had a great weekend/ I heard from one of my Navy sons. The other is in OCS and I won't hear from him for a while. I am thankful for all the sailors serving our country. Have a good week Moms, Kathy

Happy THanksgiving to everyone. What a great day, the sun was shining here it is cold, but we got to talk to my Nimitz Sailor yesterday and she is doing great. So that makes me happy even tho she is so far from home on the great day. We are thankful for all the Sailors where ever you all may be.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. This is my Sailor's 1st big hoilday away from home. He also has duty today. Thank you to all of those who opened their homes to the new and young Sailor's. My god bless all of our Sailor's!! (the first of many tears are coming now)

Oh, JJ, so sorry you are sick, but glad you can rest up. We hope to Skype with three of the four kids. Maybe we will even get a call from our sailor. Then the holiday will be complete. I'll raise a glass to you, too. Happy Thanksgiving.

Raise your glass and bless those that are with you! I am hoping that all will have a wonderful Thanksgiving, whether you are with family, friends, or like me, alone (due to a bad cold). My family is spread through-out the States, so even a phone call might not happen. The rest will do me good. Of course, I did get to chat with my mother (85) who was busily making buns to go with the turkey! And Eric, well, his immediate family headed to South Carolina for the Holiday, a nice break from Norfolk. The hubby is off to St. Cloud to spend some time with his sister and father (who we hope will be released from the hospital in time for dinner). So, as I sit here with my tissues and my blanket thrown over me, I will be thinking of all of you. I will raise my "dose of cough medicine" and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

I agree with Carol. It's hard to get used to the family being apart, and I'm not sure you every really get "used" to it but you have to make the best of the situation and be thankful for the together times you have had in the past and the ones to come. Cell phones and Skype help and the hope that next year you might all be back together again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I am always thankful for whomever is there. I have been too far away from my extended family for almost my whole married life. We have made our own traditions, and now with all the kids gone, especially this year, I look forward to a quiet day with my husband. I am thankful for Skype and cell phones, though. We will talk to all the ones available. There will be a moment or two with a tear or two, but I do count my blessings that we are all healthy and happy. That's how I do it.
I'm also thankful to have met all of you.

OK, I know Thanksgiving is a day of thanks for all we have etc, but why do I keep almost crying when I think of it!? It is a sad day because Jim,my sailor isn't here. He's going to Paris France for the weekend! I should be happy but I fight tears every time I think of the big meal with out him. It's our first holiday not together...grrr How do you make it through w/o the rest of the fam knowing how sad you are about one being gone?
Just letting off steam now 'cause the girls are in bed and hubby gets home @ 11 from work.

That's wonderful, Robin! He knows you love him, but it would have been nice to tell him. But at least you heard from him. When you can hear their voice and know they are really ok, it makes the wait to see them much easier.
