OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The USS Cole is an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis-equipped guided missile destroyer homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. It is named in honor of Marine Sargent Darrell S. Cole, a machine gunner killed in action on Iwo Jima on 19 February 1945, during World War II.

On 12 October 2000, the USS Cole was the target of an attack carried out by al-Qaeda in the Yemeni port of Aden, when two suicide bombers detonated explosives carried in a small boat near the warship.  Seventeen sailors were killed and injured 39 more.

The April adoption group consists of 30 males and 8 females. Please note that many in this group do NOT receive mail or have family support. They do have access to a microwave but no refrigeration.
