Navy For Moms

I will be doing scarfs for Christmas,to send to Afganistan. Since it takes a while to knit or crotchet a number of scarfs, I'm asking all of you for your help now. The scarfs will need to be no wider than 8 inches and 60 inches long and no fringe that could get caught in their gear. They must be desert camo, tans, and browns. Any of you have any questions, please let me know. The more scarfs the better. They will all be sent to our sailors and Marines to keep them warm. To those who don't knit & crochet the scarfs can be made of polar fleece. They actually have a fabric pattern that looks like a sand (grades of tans). Since the fleece is about 60" wide, all the you need to do is cut 7 or 8' wide stripes and the cut off the selvages to make them look neat.

We now have 250 scarfs.

Wow, things are hoppin' now! Count me as two scarves done (knitted). I will work through the postings and group to figure out where and when to send to the SeaBees, and what else I can send besides the scarves and letter. This is a great group!! I appreciate the chance to show my appreciation for our military!!

Check out the discussions on the rest of MAS and you will get some ideas for things to send. I would suggest maybe sending some packets of Hot Chocolate to go with the smores and Christmas stockings. Anything small they can stuff into the stockings would also be great.

I think those instant coffee packages that are new from Starbucks would be good too.

Gio, Go to the group MAS We SHIP Love. Ask to join and Molly will send you the name and address. If you have any problem with that process let me know. If you join that group you will be able to get the address of all the future groups as well.

Is this something that we will do again next year, so I should continue to use coupons for yarn and crochet/knit this winter?

I would love to do it again next year. I will personally be knitting and crotcheting over the next year. We can always put them in our individual boxes, even if they are not a whole group project.
