Navy For Moms

Our “Holiday Sailors” and More!
I have the HONOR of anouncing...........Our Holiday GROUP

During the Holiday Season this year we have received a “special warm request” from a group of Seabees-YES, I said Seabees, in Afghanistan! The request came from the Battalion Chaplain of NMCB 74. The Chaplain says that they have Seabees in several locations around Afghanistan. He is hoping to do two things this Christmas-geez..Only 2, we can do MORE!

1) Have a smore roast by a campfire-singing Christmas carols and sharing Christmas stories of HOME.

2) He would like to have stockings to hand to his troops.
Moms, we want to send all the “warmth” and “Love” of Christmas to all 250 SEABEES

Now moms, are your hearts melting YET? Well, let’s get busy!
However, before you dash out the door, hear this!
We have had “some” VERY busy elf’s here!
Knit for the Navy Group has been busy knitting away at scarves
Heads at Ease has been busy sewing away at stockings.
A HUGE Thank You to "Lyn Love" who coordinated all our “crafty” Navy Moms!

We are looking for the "Warmth and L♥ve" that comes from “HOME” at Christmas time!
So think WARM, IT BRRRRRRRRRRR freezing in Afghanistan.
So think Stockings, we have to stuff all those stockings!
Think WARM, lets keep our Sailors warm and toasty!

I would also like to give a shout out to “UNO’s Grille” in Kissimmee Florida-UNO’s is accepting donations for Molly’s Adopt a Sailor and in return they are giving out a coupon for a FREE appetizer! Boy, where does it end! We have such an outpouring of support from all over! It’s NOT over yet!
Let’s hear it for our Central Illinois’ Moms who on their own is taking on another special group of 60 in Iraq this holiday season! The love never ENDS!!!!!

As Always, Please use our Molly’s Adopt a Sailor Labels on all items! Mailing Dates on November 27-December 5th, so let's start the HOLIDAY PARTY

I have one last think I would like to add!
I am a mom of a sailor aboard USS Rodney M. Davis, which was adopted last holiday season by Molly’s Adopt a Sailor. I could NEVER begin to explain how I felt knowing that my son’s ship was receiving all the love that Molly’s Moms have and MORE. The day the BAGS of mail arrived aboard the Davis my son just so happen to be there with our “contact” CMC Smith! Well let’s just say, Cannot repeat what came out of the CMC’s mouth! Shock and Awe, should explain it! My son called me a few hours later letting me know the mail was dropped and dropped big. My son received over 15 cards that Christmas and he read them repeatedly! He said “Mom it gets pretty lonely on this small” ship; So, I am “Paying it forward” Molly’s Moms Style!

PS-thanks Molly, it was about time you let me do this! L♥VE YOU SISTA!!!!
Please USE these LABELS so that CHAPPY knows they are from US...♥

Oh Valeriejean, that's awesome! ....well, it's ok to tell him he can always hope for the dining room table back. ....Those tables just aren't the same with all our sailors and kids' around them, so this just helps fill that void. Last year, my family drew the line at me putting a pic of our sailor up at one of the places at the table. They said, Mom, that just crosses the line into creepy. He he.he..whatever...they had to get over it.. I got razzed over that one for quite a while....they even spilled to our sailor.....and my ever so sweet sailor says...Mom, next time ....if you want me there for dinner, we can just skype, and I'll have dinner with you guys. Love that kid! ...and Love Skype! HEY WAIT, I HAVE AN IDEA, MAYBE WE CAN BUY SKYPE CREDITS, SO THEY CAN CALL HOME!......Holy Smokes, have to go figure that skype thing out. Here's to a great night all!

I have to admit, I did that last Thanksgiving. It was the first holiday that Adam wasn't home. I didn't give him his own place at the table, but I had his picture on the table so he could be with us. And here I thought I was the only over-the-top mom! Oddly enough my daughter was all for the idea. LOL btw, dinner was at a relatives house and I took the picture with me. :)

In my case, our son would be home. He was unable to complete boot camp due to medical conditions,,, so while I am happy he is home, it is really hard watching him struggle to find himself again and figure out what he wants to do with his life now (navy was his dream since he was 5). The silver lining is that if he chooses and gets all the waivers signed, and physical therapy, etc done, he can try again in 12 months if he wants. He had his first physical therapy appt today and they were amazed at how "mis-aligned" he was and said its no wonder he had so much knee pain/problems! And he goes on a job interview today....

He got the job at Sears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for him...he now has some direction...and they don't care that we won't be home for Thanksgiving, as long as we are here for Christmas (and we are)! The Lord is SOOOOOO good! Next step is to figure out what courses he wants to take at the local community college starting January!!!

Don't know how many of you have Big Lots in your area...but I found Wrangler work socks there....a pack of 2 for $4.00. They came in brown, black and gray and were nice and heavy.

Also, got an email from my sister....she works for CPS and her office is sending a Christmas package to a medical unit in Afganistan.....anyway, she found lotions and lip balm in Target for $1.00 each.

Valeriejean - not sure how long you have been with us but my welcome message is usually "glad you are here and be sure to keep tissues by your computer! between the tears of sadness and of joy, you're gonna need them!" Some ladies have upgraded from tissues to Bounty! ~;o)

I've been a HUGE N4M fan since I started in August when my son shipped out! The knowledge, peace of mind and commraderie (sp?) starting at the bootcamp site, then PIR 10/9, then ship 5 (man that one is really tough) and my favorite, Molly's Adopt a sailor! The service this website provides is something that is really tough to put into words, but all sailor's families should learn about because it is a God send...even if you only read other people's posts!!!!!!
