Molly's Adopt a Sailor project

As a group, we would like to adopt a group of sailors and send letters and/or packages. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want)

Support our Sailors

What is the most critical or best thing I can send?
Your SUPPORT! This is NOT an attempt to resupply the military, or fix every logistical problem. What counts here is the morale of the Sailor. Send a letter or a new Army tank, they both help, but a Sailor that knows he/she has the support of the folks at home will use that tank far better than without the support.
Count on that.

We will continue to do our best to list the items requested by the Sailors.

Again, this is not an effort to get you to spend a bunch of money, it is about you sending support to those who give us the freedom to express our thanks for our freedom.

Will I get a thank you from the Sailor that gets my package?
We hope you do, but we do not guarantee it.

The Sailors are under no obligation to reply. They can't be. We can't burden Sailors are busy doing there jobs. Sure can't have their leadership tell them to reply either. If you get a reply, it is voluntary by that Sailor.

However, if you want to really increase your chances of getting a reply, simply pre-address an envelope to yourself, a few pieces of paper, and maybe a pen and put them in your package. No need for a stamp on the envelope. In your letter to the Sailor which you also put in the box, ask him/her to drop you a quick note or more and ask if there is anything in particular you can send.

Many of the troops are asking that you include your email address in your letters and boxes if you would like a reply or thank you. This is of course far easier for the troops that have Internet access. This is completely voluntary on your part and does not guarantee a reply. But it helps.

I hit the Wal Mart yesterday & found some tan Fruit of the Loom t shirts, black cushy socks, snacks and some tan bandanas. Yeah, the freedom wraps will not come through this hands. I sew by using tape, staples or glue. I can hem my pants but that's it! Anyway, I shopped for my sailor and I shopped for my sailor in Afghanistan, whoever he may be! My guy is on a plane back to CT and I'm maneuvering through the day with the huge lump in my throat. It'll be OK, because, I'm not in control, God is. Happy New Years you absolutely fabulous moms. You're the BEST! I know no shouting, but, well, you are the best! x0x0 mom stew

For those of you that are wondering what our IA Sailors in Afghanistan may want, I dropped in on the Iraq/Afghanistan group and asked!

Here's the link to that group and their suggestions:

WOW that was pretty intense - I am so excited to be able to help in anyway that I can. My son received alot of items to take back to Pensacola with him. As we were packing his seabag to go, I noticed that there were items missing. When I asked him where they were he told me to go to the garage and look - there is a box in there with all of the items. He said that they were for all of his brothers and they needed them more right now than what he did. He is just fresh out of boot camp and waiting for A school to start. I told him that I would make sure they got where they needed to go and let everyone know there were especially from him.

Thank you for Angel comment - - dont know about that yet lol

April ----- I am right there with you !! If I lived close to a base oh my ----my home would be filled with sailors coming in and out. BUT alas I am in Oregon and have no navy base :(
Thank you for choosing to stay with us and help ------ as a matter of fact you have your hand on a bunch of middle schoolers they will be able to tell us what young sailors may like in our up coming months. (resorces baby )
And our desire is every month to select another mom to pick and run the months adoption. not an easy job I will say up front ------ ask Jackie and now Angie. BUT it is rewarding :)

Welcome Angel we could always use an Angel :) tee hee yes it breaks your heart to hear some have no family at all. you need to read the Thank you note from the Rodney M Davis thread and see what happened there.
