Reikolyn - There was one on here. Just look through all the comments. I don't remember her name. Hope all is well with your hubby.

Are there any LDS Navy Wives in this group. I was just searching for LDS groups and this one popped up. My husband is currently at OCS.

Liz has only been there once and she said it was mostly girls. But I think that's just life in general. Always been more gals than guys. She said everyone is very nice and very friendly. There were a couple of guys who were marines, but not many Navy. But that's okay - she just felt very comfortable when she went. That's what I'm greatful for! Apparently there was a tri-stake activity this past Saturday night, but she didn't know about it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Absolutely, there are military, especially Navy, LDS in the whole Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach area. I lived there most of my life, and attended several different wards in the area. Most recently, which was from 2000-2003, I lived in Green Run, which is close to Oceana, and attended Salem Ward, over on Princess Anne Blvd. in VB. They had a lot of sailors there.

Marianne--I didn't realize Oceana was so close to the Norfolk area. My son & his wife will be going out to Norfolk in about a month. They have rented a condo in Chesapeake. We were just looking up online what ward they would be in, and I noticed there was a YSA ward that met in the same building. I bet it's the same one your dau. goes to. Surely there are at least some LDS in the military there. We used to live about 30 mi. from Quantico & there were always military families in our ward. Maybe the key word is "families"--I don't remember any military singles in our ward.
I'm on facebook alot, too. My husband has family in Tremonton/Howell. We should PM and compare notes!

Marianne My son is recruiting in Roy. Have of the family is inactive the other very. Our children sometimes(us too) have to learn the hard way. My College years at BYU were Baddd. My GPA was .5. I agree it is a hard way of life to LDS in the military. Life styles are lonely. I know what you mean I spend more time onother sites than here. Blessing and goodwishes for your daughter and your family.

Hi ChattyCathy - (I had one of those dolls when I was a little girl)!! Liz is doing okay. She is missing college, but because of her actions in college, she ended up in the Navy. She is a bit discouraged because she doesn't feel like she belongs, everyone drinks. She found a singles ward in Chesapeake which is about 30-40 miles from Oceana. She just got a car and she said the drive is worth it to go over to that ward.

My husband is from Ogden and we have a daughter who lives there. She isn't active in the church, but I figure that maybe someday she will be a nice inactive Mormon boy who comes from the same background she does. Better chances up there than down here in Texas! I grew up in Tremonton. All our family is in the Ogden area.

So is your son at BC yet? Stay in touch. Maybe we can get this LDS group talking more. I'm on FB much more than N4M, but I do check this page from time to time.

Chatty Cathy - Congratuations. My daughter is about to graduate from A School in Pensacola, then home for a visit and then off to Oceana to work on F/A 18 Hornets. Where in Utah are you from...I grew up in No. Utah and my husband is from Ogden. Your son will be in our prayers. Welcome to the group...it's not a real active (talkative) group, but it's nice to hear about each other's sailors.
