For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Good morning, Moms ( and Dads) ~
I'm very new to all of this, and I've been getting so much valuable information from NFM. I have a question about the AIRR draft. My son (still 17 and in high school for a few more months) has a PST yesterday, and was told that his name was definitely going into the draft this month (they would have submitted him earlier but there was a glitch at MEPS with his depth perception, which had to be cleared up ~ and wasn't that fun?!?!). We are obviously excited and happy for him, but can anyone tell me approximately how long it might take before he hears if they are going to offer him a contract this cycle? I feel like I've been on pins and needles ever since he signed his DEP contract. Thanks for all your wonderful insight ~

Our son signed his DEP contract in June of 2016, was in the AIRR draft Nov 2016. He signed his AIRR contract in Jan 2017. He had a few delays along the way because he got sick a couple of times. He ships to BC next week.

My son had all the same stats - even the depth perception issue! How long it takes to get a contract just depends on what's available that month. And yes he must keep taking his PST every month and keep making his scores. Our son is in his last few months of AIRR training. It is a long journey - usually about 2 years. If you have more specific questions feel free to private message me, I would be happy to share our experiences.

Hello, my son told me yesterday that they offered him rescue swimmer at his last Dep mtg. He is considering taking it which makes me feel very nervous. That is why I joined this group. Can you give me more info? For example, what is the draft?
Any advice is appreciated. -

I Googled US Navy Draft and Navy Rescue Swimmer to get these links. You can find a lot of info if you Google. You should be able to go to the Recruiter's Office and they can explain everything to you. They want the families comfortable and supportive.
