Hi kstin, congratulations to your son!  My son is AIRR, and just graduated from RSS last week, will be starting A school this week.  It's a very exciting, very difficult and demanding path.  The draft is a nationwide "search", where the Navy (based on contracts available) choose AIRR candidates based on their scores. He will then be offered a new contract, which invalidates the previous contract, and he will be given a new ship date.  You may as well get used to the "hurry up and wait" and "oh yeah, everything has changed as of a second ago" .. haha!!  It's very exciting, and the family support is absolutely amazing.  There are also several private FB pages that you can look into joining.  Good luck to your SR!!!!  <3 NMH (Navy Mom Hugs)

Hello!  I am new to the group but not Navy moms.  My youngest just left for boot yesterday to start his path to be a Air Rescue Swimmer.  My oldest is in NY finishing up Nuke school. So my head is spinning a little today.

QsPop, Once he gets to Pensacola he has to phase up which can take week or two. My sons PIR was in sept 16, we drove his car down beginning of Oct. All depends on command and how fast they get things done and signed off. Time off isn't likely unless it was Holiday Leave for xmas/Thanksgiving, they do get off for some other holidays but that depends also. Hope this helped & Good Luck to you son!
