Hey ladies,

I don't know if any of you scrapbook, but I got an email from creating military memories, and they have a deal for Dec?

creatingmilitarymemories.com has a 45% off sale on merchandise until Dec 30th. Trying to get rid of inventory for end of year. Promo code to use at checkout is EOY45. I just got $115 order for $86 with shipping!!!

Thought I would pass it on.....they have car decals and other military things as well as scrapbooking!!

Hi Christi,
I love that photo of Greg too....he looks like a giant fly head with those huge goggles! He and Jill are going to Wisconsin for Xmas to see her family. She was there this summer but he hasn't been since Xmas before last and this will be the 1st time they'll have seen everyone since they were married.

Greg's be off on his carrier training mini-cruise all this week. Jill thinks he may have gone to Hawaii but isn't sure. He'll be home tomorrow or the next day and then we'll find out.

Welcome micsportsmom....ask away, someone here will know the answer.

Hi,
My daughter is in boot now PIR 1/22 for Rescue Swimmer. She wrote that there are two other females in her div also. I've been lurking around here for about two weeks trying to get as much info as possible.

Chris, I love that picture of Greg. How great he looks and happy!!! My sailor comes home next Thursday...I'm very excited! I know I just saw him in October but Christmas just doesn't start for me until Shawn gets home. Going to go get a tree this weekend but saving the decorating til he gets home. Is Greg and Jill coming home for Christmas? I hope so.

Funny story......Derik had to go spend over $100 on new clothes for hissquadron Christmas party! He had no dress clothes that fit. He has been working so many hours that he has missed PT for a few months...seems he has put on some extra pounds!!! LOL He said he flucuates between a size 26 waist and 32!!! Depending on how much PT he has gotten in!! He is flying so much that when they PT he is already in the air, and after a 12 hour day, he is too tired to do it at night!!! LOL!!

Thank you Beth......I was also horrified - in shock at myself. if someone had asked me awhile back if I'd ever have trouble recognizing my son, I'd have said "heck no! Never!" Well, never say never. Yes, our guys are tough. I'm very proud of the time and effort my son has put into everything he's ever done. He's not where a lot of your guys are - not yet - he just started school. I'm impressed by the amount of dedication these guys commit to in order to achieve what they want. And, it isn't just mental as some things are in life. Our guys have to include the physical along with it. Doubly impressive!

To touch on recent lines of thinking....

Our rescue swimmer is home for a few more days. Just last night my husband was giving him a manly type "pat" on the shoulder (not like a mom's pat, you get what I mean, a little more force). My husband drew his hand away and couldn't get the words out of his mouth fast enough, "Man, you're as hard as a rock!" Our son just smiled, kind of like, "Did you hurt your hand?" So, yeah, our guys are tough!

During our PIR we picked our spot on the second level to sit relative to where he would be on the floor roving in his position as body snatcher. Before the PIR got started on our level there were a bunch of sailors moving about also in the 900 division. One sailor stopped in front of us. I didn't give it a second thought. This sailor kind of hovered. It was Garrett. He thought it was so funny. We have a picture of me crying/smiling. In part my reaction was horrified because I didn't recognize my own son.

SERE: Our daughter is going back to Marine Corps OCS this summer. Last summer she was sent home in week 8 of 10 w/ a fracture. Garrett's advice to her about picking a career path in the Marines was to do anything that didn't involve SERE. No matter how he felt about it personally, he wouldn't want his sister to do it. I'm sure he's just being protective...

Chris, I felt bad, but I have dropped certain groups on N4M. I understand what you mean about having the energy to follow all the "conversations".

My son said the same thing about SERE training. Glad to have gone through it and be looking back at it, but would never want to repeat it.
During his graduation from boot camp in Chicago...I was watching the very back row as thought I saw him back there...he was actually right in the front as a section leader...he had to tell me that when it was over..LOL..they all look so similar, I completely understand the confusion!

I think I'm going to leave the other Rescue group. We all seem to be on both but the other one doesn't get used. I can only manage to use so much of my brain and then it poops out.

Thanks Ladies.. Very helpful, although I have heard this from amny that they are glad they did it but would not volunteer to do it again. I googled it and gave it to Chris yesterday morning and he seems excited about it? I am glad that this is something that is required for them to do, it puts me @ ease a little more.
