My recruit left 12/18 and I have had mixed emotions since the departure. I’m so proud and I know logically my recruit has everything they need. I’m just missing my recruit so much. We are extremely close and it’s the patiently waiting for letters and feeling anxious all the time. I’m like my recruit is probably doing better emotionally than I am. I feel like I may need a Xanax. I keep telling myself everything is fine but my heart is not on the same page. I keep counting the weeks and time feels like it’s standing still. I’m so happy to have found this group I literally was not able to sleep and was googling Navy and this website popped up. I’m so thankful for all of you and Anna for holding this space for mom’s to get emotional support.

 Thank you

I completely understand how you feel.  My daughter graduated BC 2 days ago and then left the next morning for her next destination.  I was the same, cried every day, not able to get solid rest, always wondering if she's happy and feeling good. The hardest part is not being able to check in with them.

And it dragged.  The 2nd month felt like it went by quicker and THE DAY ARRIVED! when I saw her march into that room and the drums were beating and they were walking so proudly!! It was the greatest feeling in the world , to see them so proud of their accomplishments! and then the next morning she was gone again. I was able to hang out with her at the airport and see her off.. I was strong at that moment and then cried in my car lol.  I don't know if it will ever feel any easier saying "see you later" to her but now she has her phone, it makes me feel better even though I currently feel like my soul has been sucked out of me again. Lol I completely understand how you feel and I can't wait for your graduation day! I still keep watching the video over and over!

What will be your recruits next destination after BC?

The next destination is Texas for Hospital Corpsman. Thank you for the hug. I can’t get enough of those right now.

Chihuahualove: I have been taking Kaviance and it has been helping me. Its vitamin B6 its all natural. It helps with stress and sleep :)

Is there a particular brand you recommend? and can I order it on Amazon? I love my amazon prime. Thank you so much

Hi Chihuahualove3 and welcome! You are not alone in any of those feelings. We've all gone through this! It's normal.... believe that or not! My daughter reported to her ship 3 years ago in August but I can tap into the emotions of boot camp in 0.2 seconds! Come here often, ask questions, vent, let us celebrate with you! There are so many wonderful moms on this site, not all of us post regularly but we read and can help you navigate through all of this. When you find out your daughter's PIR date make sure you join that group also, there'll be loads of great info there too! Remember to breathe! Soon she'll be in A School and you'll be able to call and text her regularly. Hang on .. it IS a roller coaster but you'll survive. And you're right, she's probably doing better than you are right now, she's certainly busy! Best to you! Sending you a big Navy mom hug

Hugs are the greatest gift. Thank you for your kind words and understanding

I totally get your feelings.  My daughter went to boot camp right after she graduated HS.  Her goal was to go to boot camp and then do ROTC because she wanted to understand what a recruit would go through as enlisted VS ROTC to be a better officer.

Here she is, a veteran, now in ROTC at Old Dominion University and has a guaranteed commission.  She would like to fly F18's after working on them.  She is planning on taking her test to qualify for flight school over the next 6 months.

Our daughters grow through a transformation > boot camp > enlisted > officer...it amazing.

Please make sure you go to PIR.  Its a beautiful ceremony.

And yes, when the "box" came, I cried, cried, cried.  I felt like she was plucked from me and not the normal college thing coming home on weekends.  My two older daughters went the traditional track of college life.  So my youngest, my baby, went directly as recruit. Crazy how time passes and it was her fit.

But now, by daughter is 25 and AMAZING!

I'm here for you as well as all the other Navy moms!

xo

You are not alone even though it feels like it!!  My first daughter left for bootcamp right after high school graduation and it was just two months after my mom suddenly passed away from cancer.  My heart was just braking into a million pieces.  And Navy4Moms didn't exist yet!!!  It IS so hard on us Moms!!  Don't think you feelings are unusual or strange - you are a Mom, so proud of your girl, but missing her like crazy.  It just means you love her!!! Come to the group page and chat whenever you want to.  I helps to have others to talk to!!!  Sending you cyber hugs {{{ . . }}}
