Blondie, I am so sorry for the grief you and your community are experiencing. I belong to a lymphoma group and there are poems for grief. Here is one I find touching:

A Hopi Prayer

Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there,
I do not sleep;
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on the snow;
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave.
I am not there.
I did not die.
For everything beautiful that you see
will bring a memory of me.

I am sure it was hard for her family to let her be an organ donor but some day thank them for me. It is such a gift of life to others.

May your community find healing peace.

JM, What a wonderful picture of Puffy and "his girl." She looks marvelous.

NavyMom, if people are going to hunt, then they should use the meat. My husband's family hunted every fall and venison was a major source of meat in their houses. He used to hunt but now prefers to watch the wildlife rather than hunt them. So you did not gross me out.

My uncle was a hunter and one time while on a trip to Maine, a deer came through the front yard. He shot it and then headed off to get his license. When he walked in to purchase it, one of the locals asked, "What did you get, Wesley?" They knew that he was much too tight a New Englander to get a license unnecessarily.

I won't ever win the lottery. I have yet to purchase a ticket. First of all, I know the odds and don't care to pour money down a rat hole. Second, it is one of the most regressive tax programs ever. Third, the lotteries have usually been passed under the guise of helping education. Well lottery money does go for education but then the legislature puts in less than they would have otherwise. Now I do know that in some states it has allowed for scholarships to be offered to good students, e.g., the Bright Futures Scholarships in Florida. If I got enjoyment scratching off the ticket, I might purchase one now and then but I don't. When in Las Vegas or Reno, I only play the nickel slots. I can watch the wheels go round (not real wheels anymore) for a nickel as easily as for a dollar.

Have a great day.

Puffy's mission was a complete success! And as you can see both his girl and Puffy are smiling from ear to ear. Ladies I will write more soon. Just home from the airport and over 300 emails waiting. Talk soon. JM

MNagy,
Prayers for all the young women going through OCS in class 09-10. Are they due to graduate soon? I'm not sure how they do things at OCS - is it a graduation or a commissioning? Either way - are they close to the end?

Welcome back, Linda! Now you are ready to be a world traveler at any time.

MNagy, special prayers are coming to all at OCS. May they excel in everything they attempt!

Welcome back Linda!!! I'm glad you had a nice trip. It took me a few days to get back to east coast time and that was only 3 hours different!!!
Thought I'd try to send my own mountain picture - Puget Sound is in the foreground.

NavyMom, I have always disliked giving cards/money and once commented about that to my students. They informed me in no uncertain terms that was their favorite gift of all. I have, alas, resorted to giving my grandchildren money as their major gifts. They have "everything" and I have little idea what would make a good gift. I frequently enclose the money in a token gift, e.g., an ornament, a water bottle.

I did hear about a neat thing for someone on board ship ... a "rack pack." This may be more appropriate for an enlisted person than an officer. If you search for it on the Internet, you will find the company that sells them. If you want to be extravagant, you might give a Kindle. It would be a great way to get books to read. It could be loaded up before deployment and a whole library could be taken with your sailor(s).

I was working on needlework today .... Loooonnnnngggg overdue project. I was thinking that perhaps V. would like to do some nedlework while deployed. It does pass the time and there is something to show for it when done. My son who is a vet used to cross stitch ... before he bought his own practice. LOL

Good morning. It is another lovely day ... love it.

I believe that JM's daughter is going somewhere in Virginia for A school, something like Dam Neck. I believe her rate is IS. Since JM is very quiet, I assume she is having a grand time.
