My daughter is a Nuke, specifically a Nuclear Machinist Mate.  Nuke's get 2 or so years of schooling before they ever hit the fleet, it's a difficult path but well worth it with a lot of perks.

Her job is like everyone else's job, some days it is great, some days she comes home hating everything.

I can't find the original question asking about what rate she chose, but our Sailor Girl graduated BC back in Sept and has been in Cyber Warfare school ever since. She was an Honors Student in High School, but this feels 10xs harder. We celebrate every quiz and every exam because of how hard the curriculum is, (only 50% make it) but she's still hoping to graduate in July.

My daughter chose Master at Arms. She started out as an E-3 due to where she was stationed. It's been tough but I'm sure any job is.

Happy Mother's day to all of you! My daughter participated in a video with her in it from Guam. I cried when I saw it on Facebook. She was crying also. I sure do miss her. Praying we all get to hug our babies soon.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day.

You may or may not hear from your sailor, you may or may not see your sailor, but know in your heart that they are thinking of you.  Enjoy your Mother's Day!

Oleander - hope you had a nice Easter (as I hope you all did)
My daughter is settled at A school and nos has to wait four months to start. There were a group of CTR there already waiting to start and the course is 4 months long. So after they start she will have 4 months to wait.
My son should be out of quarantine this Thursday. I got a letter form him which was unexpected since he is under quarantine. I wrote him daily but realized none of the letters would probably get  there before he was done.

As for the shaving -  I told my hubby I was on a shave strike 0 sort of like no shave November but no shave lock down, lol. He said "No" but I will shave when I get around to it :)

Happy Easter, Happy Passover to all!

Anna, I guess we'll have to wait to see how they'll handle the testing. She was told it would be September but as we know a lot can change between now and then. Wouldn't it be nice to advance w/out testing tho?!?!!!

So glad you got to communicate with your sailor LadyBluefire! But having a son in bc now must be tough! Keep us posted after his quarantine is over!

Yesterday afternoon the Thunderbirds did a flyover all of Las Vegas in a show of support for all 1st responders during this pandemic. Everyone was out in the neighborhood, maintaining social distancing, cheering and celebrating as they passed us. It was thrilling!

Anna - it is so nice to communicate with her a lot today being Saturday!
I also have a son in RTC under quarantine in the middle of boot camp time...just got his first letter from quarantine - 8 days into a 14 day..

Comment by Anna on April 11, 2020 at 4:32pm

Oh and I'm with LadyBluefire - what is this shaving you speak of????

Hope the next 19 days go quickly for you and your sailor LadyBlue!!!!

Happy Easter everyone!!!!

Oleander,

An EP!!! How exciting for her!!  Tell her I said CONGRATULATIONS, BRAVO ZULU!!!! Hope she gets to put on 1st soon.  I did hear that the Navy has suspended all advancement exams this year because of the current epidemic.  Will she promote without having to take the test??
