Hi everyone, just checking in. Leaving Quartzsite, AZ for Canyon Vistas, AZ tomorrow. Oleander, I think that is within driving distance to you. We will be there for 3 weeks so maybe we can meet up.

Quartzsite has been great. A small town with less than 4000 people explodes in Jan to more than 2.5 million rock and RV enthusiasts. Looking forward to our next stop to hike Superstition Mountain and visit the other interesting attractions.

Daughter has a car that connects to her phone so everyday after work she gives us a call during her drive home. It is only for about 10 to 20 minutes but we are able to stay up to date. To all you moms still going through boot camp, it does get better. My girl has been in for over 4 years now. The time flies. Seems like it was only a few months ago when I was the one needing all of you to vent my frustrations. Thanks to all for being there.

Praying that you all hear from your sailors this week.

sdred,

So sorry you had to do all this back and forth but sometimes that's just how things go!!!  I'm glad you got it all accomplished!!!  Welcome to the roller coaster!!!  Let us know when you get to hear from her!!!

Comment by Oleander on January 26, 2020 at 9:40am

good morning sdred ........and the roller coaster begins! Good job getting it done navy mom! I've gotten into the habit of making copies of everything and filing them here at home. I'm not sure it's totally necessary but it's saved me a lot of stress a couple of times. Now that you've got her ship & div # you can start sending letters. They love hearing from home! I used to write my girl every morning while I had my coffee, it made me feel like we were spending time together. It's a good idea to number or date them, maybe on the back of the envelope so she'll know which order to read them in.  Let us know when you get the 1st letter!!!

Following up on my freak out on Thursday.  Thanks all for supporting comments.  I did get a copy of the divorce papers overnighted, but that was AFTER the recruiter called me back to clarify what was happening.  The recruiter needed to "site" the papers.  Put eyes on it, stamp it, sign and scan into her records.  Of course, this was AFTER I had already went to the post office!  Back to the post office, got the letter, drive to the recruiter, he stamped, signed, scanned to her records.  Back to the post office to overnight again.  Thank goodness I was close to all HOME, WORK, POST OFFICE and RECRUITER.  Took 3.5 hours.  But done.  I didn't want this recruiter error to mess up my babygirl!  I did get her Ship and Division # early.  Looking for her letter soon.

You took the correct action. My guess, there was something missing in the packet the Navy received and wants another copy of the Divorce Decree and your daughter may need to fill out paperwork ... again (sound familiar to many of you!!). Both of my Navy kids request info from me that the Navy has and sometimes it has been provided multiple times - like my daughter's diploma from medical school that I've sent 3 times at varying intervals!! Swear the Navy just tells my kids "ask your mom for ...."!

sdred - well that had to have been a frustrating call!  Here is the phone # to contact RTC.  Maybe you can reach out to them and explain what has happened and they might be able to give you some guidance.  In the meantime I would definitely send the copies that you have and see if that satisfies them.

Contacting RTC by phone:

The public information number is 847-688-2405. From the main menu, you will have options for Legal, Events, Security, Religious Ministries, and Public Affairs. Please make the appropriate choice in order to get you to the right place to have your questions addressed.

My first freak out.  Got a call from my daughter and there was something wrong with her divorce papers in the packet? Recruiter made an error?  The original should be sent overnight?  Of course, I couldn't hear her well, static.  I checked with her attorney and the original is kept at circuit court.  I have the signed final judgement, but a copy, which I will overnight usps.  I also sent a text to her recruiter asking to follow-up and get back with me ASAP.

Ship 10 Division 112

Heading to the post office.  I'll look for your response.  Thanks for the help.

Wow Blondie! Hang in there! My hubby reminds me that "this too shall pass, eventually". I just keep praying and reminding myself that it will end at some point. I'll be praying for your energy and for this craziness to pass on so you can find some rest.

I gotta run as my students are waiting on my ramp! Have a great week everyone!

Thank you bbcregular. I am Exhausted and probably burnt out but what else is there to do, pull on your boots and keep going.  This below zero weather is nuts!  Monday I backed into parking space over a snow ploy snow bank, when I drove out over it. It caught my front passenger bumper and ripped it to shreds!  It was as hard as a rock, cause of the weather!(the snow bank my bumper was fragile because of the cold also)  Now dealing with car insurance and getting estimates yesterday on my half day off. Another sister in law had to have knee surgery.....Everyone is recovering nicely but I could use some sleep!  I work 6 days again this week then heading to eldest daughters, Joseph is 6 months old already!  How did that happen?

So GLAD you got to spend that time with your daughter and more to come!!!  I visited Vegas in 2004 (for work) not my thing.  But sounds exciting you just traveling along.  Like Anna would Love to here all your stories.  Stay safe. Navy Mom Hugs
