Are we allowed to send feminine hygiene products or do they need to buy them at the NEX?
Comment by Anna on July 22, 2019 at 10:42pm

MilMom,

Sorry don't have an answer for you about the makeup on the whites. My daughter Catherine said she always put a towel over her face when putting on her whites so she didn't get makeup on her uniform.  And daughter Jennifer wears a flight suit all the time so she hasn't been in her whites since commissioning!!!! But I'll ask around and if I learn something I will pass it along.

Hope everyone survived this heat wave we were having.  We had no problems, but I heard there were some nasty storms across the country.  Hope everyone is ok!!!

Got to visit New York and spent a day visiting the 9/11 Memorial.  It can still wrench your heart remembering the events of that time.

5PurpleTulips - yikes! That's good to be prepared for. My daughters all have their particular products and brands they like to use. Generally when females live in close quarters or spend a lot of time together, their bodies often sync putting them within days of each others cycles. So.... those products could go fast.

I would NEVER talk about this in any other place, but my Girl called (needed some paperwork) so I took the opportunity to ask if there was anything she needed. She asked for 2 things: Bobby Pins and Menstrual products. Regarding the the feminine products she said "Mom, those are all "community items here and the ones I brought, everyone liked and are all gone now so please send more."

I have no idea how big her "community" is, but I thought I'd let the Mom's know this in case you didn't.  I'll send more in a couple of weeks. You have to think that at least 25% of gals will have it at any given time.

Fly graceful, they can be pearl or silver balls. I believe 4mm or less. I'd have to check on the exact size but I know they need to be small. Congratulations on PIR!

Does anyone know the requirements for earings? I am sending a pair of earings to my daughter for her BC PIR, but wanted to make sure they were the right size and requirement.

MilMom hi! I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for that one. My daughter has duty tonight but she never wears makeup.

Anna do you have any first hand experience in this?

Comment by Oleander on July 19, 2019 at 11:54am

Yay! Great news Mom of a future sailor!!!! Believe it or not you'll look back in a few months and realize boot camp goes by in a blink! Hope you're able to attend her PIR - it's an experience you truly don't want to miss! Once you have her PIR date be sure to join that group too. They'll be able to give you tons of valuable advice!

Mom of a future sailor that's great!  Now you have an address.  Make sure you number the envelopes on the outside.  Your daughter might get them out of order or many at a time.

How's she liking BC?
