Hi
My son just recently DORd from a program because he pulled his groin muscle and wasn't able to continue. SOOOO SAD. He has been given the opportunity to try again but not for two years. Meanwhile, he has been given two options, COOK or undesignated. It seems as though it would be best to go undesignated because if he is trained as a cook he might become stuck as a cook. Do you have any insight on this? I think he should try to wait until a job that he is interested in becomes available but they are pushing him to make a decision. Any one know how long a sailor can stall?
Thanks!

Could you please tell me what DOR means?
Thanks

DOR is Drop on Request
I have heard it used most with BUD/s ---but I think it can go navy wide.
It means the sailor has requested to drop vs being dropped.

Thank you.
I'm new to all of the Navy lingo, so forgive my ignorance.
I'm learning something new every day.
Thanks
Mikie

Ahhh Honey ignorance is not the right word --- Navy speeks a different language and it takes a long time to get it. Never hesitate to ask ---- If we dont know we will find someone who does :)
Hugs to you

Another question... Can u DOR from A School... My fiance has been complaining about his back. He says it hurts very badly

what school is your fiance in? you can DOR from almost any school but the reason has to be valid and very pertinent. also depending on his grades and what his chain of command thinks of him will determine if he is dropped or not and how fast. it can be both good and bad.

My son is an Undesignated Sailor and has order for The USS Jarrett FFG-33.
Any other moms out there that can give me information about ship life and undesignated life?

Thanks
Tammy
