Paymaster: love the packing story!
Chasity22: our guys (your husband, my son) have a similar path. Hopefully all will go well in RI and they will be in Florida together, too. Wow, so much to learn.
Thanks to everyone for all of the great info!!!

Lynn.....I love your comment about your mom. I grew up military and I always thought my mom was the best packer.

When I was about 5 we were moving. I went to sleep that night and my room was like it always was. When I woke up the next morning the only thing left in my room was my bed (which I was in) and my cloths for the day and my shoes!

I don't know about the Navy, but my best friend's daughter is married to an Army SGT. He was in Fort Riley in KS until the middle of January and moved to a Ranger training school (instructor) in the NW part of GA. Since there wasn't a post where he was going, all housing is handled out of Fort Benning in Columbus GA which is in the SW part of GA. He had a pending promotion that they knew would be something coming up in the next year, but the Army sent him to the ranger school anyway. Well...... they have now found out that it is entirely possible that he is going to be assigned to Fort Benning within the next couple of weeks. However, the Army is telling them that they won't pay to move him since where he is now, is under control of Fort Benning and they only make 1 move to a posting. Even if the posting was a 3-4 hour drive away from Fort Benning. Long story....... you want to make sure that the Navy is going to move you, otherwise it will be on your dollar.

Chasity22....When my son went through, my daughter in law stayed at there residences and kepted her job until he got winged. They would take turns flying to each other on weekends. He shared a house with 3 other guy that were married and the wife's stayed at their residences.

The main reason she didn't move with him, was because of the cost of moving and also employment opportunities. She is in genetic researcher and there just wasn't much for her is Penscola.

You will figure out what works best for the two of you. You will make it work.

Best of Luck on your Navy journey!

hey ladies!
I'm new to Navy moms and thought I'd join since my husband is reporting to OCS March 7th. This Navy thing is new to me but I'm so excited to see what the Navy has in store for us and so proud to be a future Navy Wife! He is going in as a pilot, and i know will he'll leave for Pensacola shortly after RI from what I've been reading... How long is his stay there and when will he move somewhere else? I just need to know if I need to relocate with him; or if it's only going to be 6 weeks or so, tough it out and keep my job? We live in GA so it won't be too too far : ( ...
So many questions in my head right now!!! Thank you all for your help and support and congrats to all of your LO's who have sacrificed much to make our world a better place!

The Navy's motto is "hurry up and wait" :-) Seems Tracy has always delayed, on hold, or something during her 3 years in the Navy. Sigh....it has always worked out perfectly for her in the long run, though.

Its feast or famine with classing up. We were lucky it was famine time when my son went through. They couldn't turn them out fast enough.
