Hi ladies...I took my certification class for my long-arm quilter yesterday...now if they'd just ship the thing! We had a really good instructor and I came away with much more confidence about using one. Found out about "micro-handles" that allow you to have your hands really close to the needle - it's almost like having a pen in your hand and drawing - I was even able to do free motion feathers after just a little practice! Finished piecing my DIL's quilt today and will add borders tomorrow; then on to other Christmas projects! We loved our trip to Norfolk to see our sailor; except for the 2 days that I had food poisoning! But Virginia was beautiful. We left the day before all the flooding started. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hi Everyone,
Just got back from my trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin. I really fell in love with rug hooking....with both strips of wool and wool yarn. So I had to get all the supplies I needed to make several rugs. I won't start on them until after Christmas but I can't wait. I also picked up a bunch of quilt patterns. When I unpack....I will give you the name of a quilt shop in Minneapolis that make really neat quilts. They design them. I hope everyone is working hard on their Christmas gifts. You all have a good day.

Eagle Mom, welcome to the group. What a great idea for left overs. It would be fun to get together to sew. I also had a friend I would spend a lot of time with sewing.....she is now in Charleston. Can't wait to see everyones creations.

Eagle Mom....Welcome to the group. Yes, sewing with others is wonderful. My best friend and I would sew into the wee hours of the morning. She had to move away, so I lost my sewing partner. I do miss our evenings of sewing.

I have found a quilt guild in my area that works on quilts for our local veterans hospital and hospice. so I enjoy donating my time to them and receiving their fellowship in return.

Of course I have about 8 projects I need to finish before the holidays. so what else is new..

We all love to see what the others make here, so hopefully you can share your creations also.

Looking forward to hearing more about you and your sailor.

Hello. i just found this group. this is neat! i started to clean out all my leftover material and batting from my closet and decided to piece them together to make quilts for the kids in the local Women's Shelter. i make them about 36" x 48" and make a little pillow sham to go with them and buy those little baby pillows to go in them. It is a lot of fun!
i wish i had a group nearby that could sew with me! It is the company that is really the fun!!
God Bless!

pmbarman......enjoy your time with your son. We hope to see ours during the holidays. He goes on his cruise sometime after that......whenever that is.

Vernita - Yes, my son is on the Nicholas. He just called about 30 minutes ago; getting ready to go stand watch. He leaves for his first 6 month cruise sometime in Dec. We're going to go see him next week!
