Hi Joanne-

Will kindergarten be a big change for you? Is it full day or half day? I've taught everything between PreK and 3rd grade and whatever I'm teaching at the time is my favorite. I've been in first grade for 9 years now and I'm pretty happy there. Only one snow day for us this year but some districts had "flood days" this week.

How exciting for your son! Japan is my son's first choice but he said he would most likely go to the west coast. Do you get to communicate with your son often?

Hello All- I was excited to see that there is a group for Navy mom teachers, but I see it hasn't been very active. Thought I'd join anyway and see what happens! My son is almost finished with A school in Pensacola and I'm looking forward to him coming home in a few weeks! I teach first grade in Northern Illinois. We are nearly at the end of the year. May 21 is our last day because we start soooo early (August 13 this year?). We are all back working in our rooms in late July.  Looking forward to hearing from some Navy mom teachers!

I teach kids that want to be teachers (Ready, Set, Teach) so I encourage them all! They know while working in the classrooms all year if they love it and could not imagine doing anything else or if they need to look for something else because they do not think they want to pursue it. It is my passion and I love it. I do not think I am in it for the money, but I can't imagine not teaching. I stopped two times due to moves and found new jobs asap as I missed it so much. It has changed a great deal since my 1st yr in 1989 & the kids are def. Diff, but I love them all, feel like they need me, and hope I am making a difference in at least one of their lives :)
I love summers :) and we just got a $1000 bonus aft school this year so it was a great blessing and unheard of for our district. We are fortunate that we continue to hire and noone has lost jobs due to budget in our entire district!
Teachers have a fabulous summer!
