Hi all, haven'rt been on this group for a while. Hope all had a good summer. Have a great year. My 1st day is Sept. 3rd, my daughter's birthday. This is superintendent's conference day then we don't go back again until Sept. 8th and all students will have their 1st day then too.

We had our first day of school this past Friday. We are looking forward to a great year. I have one son that will graduate from Parris Island on Sept 4 and my sailor will be back from deployment in late September. This mom will be glad to have these kids back to where I can talk to them.

Hi all!

My second week of school ends today - and I'll be spending my afternoon walking for my Master's - YAY! I have no voice left after all the singing and projecting my voice that I didn't do all summer. At least I don't seem to have the crud that's already making it's way around. I went to Kirstie's PIR last Friday. Wow, Navy graduations are much more pleasant than Army ones, for sure. Kirstie played the tenor drums with the drum team and their routine was impressive. She's already in San Antonio and taking some personal finance classes before MA classes start on Monday. She's already anxious about the exercise where they have to take OC spray in the face and then perform certain actions. It's been so difficult to focus on things like standards and lesson plans these past two weeks, I've got to settle down into some normalcy soon! I've posted some pics from PIR if you'd like to take a look. Good luck to all of you just starting back, and Kathy in PA - you are SO LUCKY to start later in the summer, the heat here in TN makes it too hot on some days for my little ones with medical concerns to even go outside to play. Happy Friday all!

Since I'm in PA, it seems to unusual when I hear/read about school starting already in the south. My in-service days don't begin until Sept. 1. We start with kids the day after Labor Day. I'm relishing these last few weeks!

Hi everyone! This summer has flown by so quickly. I have teacher meetings through tomorrow; then our students come on Thursday. My daughter returns to Texas A&M next week. She is driving and will be leaving Monday morning. I hope everyone is having or have had a great summer, and I look forward to hearing from everyone as time allows.

Hi Navy moms/teachers
I haven't been on this group form quite some time. Been so busy with my USS Truman group. LI Navy moms group, Molly's adopt a sailor group, and the moms that I keep in touch with as I have met them numerous times. This Navy for moms can be a full time job, a fun one, like our teaching jobs. Summer started with a big blow out BBQ for over 100 sailors and marines on Staten Island during NYC's Fleet Week. Spent 3 days there to help. My last day of school was June 26th. June 30th I started 3 classes that ran for almost three weeks consecutively. Finished that July 16th and July 17th I flew out to Norfolk/VA Beach VA for five days to see my son (my sailor) and go on his ship for a friends and family cruise. What an experience! It started at 5am and we got off the ship at 8pm. Now I have been spending time with my daughter and one and two year old grandchildren. Yes, summer is flying by. I go back on Sept. 3rd (my daughter's birthday) for Superintendent's conferences and then we have off for 5 days for Labor Day weekend and then everyone, including students are back Sept. 8th. I'm sure I'll have to go in at least one day before the 3rd of Sept. to set up the room. I hope everyone here is enjoying their summer and that the rest of it goes slow for us all. We will all be back with our little (and some of you big) cherubs soon enough. I know that some states get out sooner for the summer and start back sooner than us up here in the Northeast, so enjoy what you have left.

Well I am leaving for South Carolina next Thursday to see my oldest son graduate from the first of 3 schools in the NUKE program. I need the break right before school starts. It feels like the summer has flown by and I missed it.

Hello again all!

Well, Kirstie was permitted to return to Div 938 and to her drum team position after she completed the physical therapy. Gee! Maybe I can think now. I spent the day in my classroom, 'nesting' as my husband and kids call it. It will be good to be occupied rather than stalking the mail carrier every day and toting my cell phone around like I'm waiting for a call from the White House.

Good evening fellow teachers! I just wanted to thank all of you who prayed for Tom's family in the loss of his mother. He seems to be doing fairly well; today, he and Mary went to the Indianapolis Zoo and enjoyed our beautiful 80 degree weather. Then they went out to eat and came back to the house to watch movies. Tom will be returning to his Marine base on Sunday, so I know Mary will be sad. However, they do text message and that helps. Also, Mary has quite a bit to keep her busy until she returns to Galveston in mid August. She still wants to visit more of her family and friends as well.

I hope all of you are having a great week so far.

I will enjoy about 4 weeks of freedom! During that time I'll go visit my mom in IL and God willing, go see my daughter graduate from OCS for the USMC. My daughter is plagued w/ problems related to the runs, hikes, etc.

We start school August 24 (with the kids). We have a week of pre-planning before that.
