Navy For Moms

My son has been active duty SeaBee for 4 yrs, out 1 yr., now in the Reserves. Just completed his first drill week-end. He's talking about possibly going into Beach Masters?? Don't know what that is, or what it involves. Any info would be great.
Thank You,
Mom of Derek, Debbie

Debbie~this is what I found.

Their missions is:
Beachmaster Unit Two is assigned the mission of providing tactical components in support of Amphibious Operations. BMU-TWO provides Naval Beach Party Teams (BPTs) for deployment in conjunction with Expeditionary Forces in order to provide beach and surf zone salvage and to facilitate the landing and movement over the beach of troops, equipment, supplies, and the evacuation of casualties, prisoners-of-war, and non-combatants.

A Beach Party Team consists of Traffic Control and Salvage, and Communications. The Traffic Control Section, provided by Beachmaster Unit TWO, is tasked with controlling the boat traffic in the surf zone, controlling the beaching and retracting the landing craft, and directing the smooth and efficient flow of personnel and material over the beach. The Communications Section establishes visual and radio communications with the Primary Control Ship and enters prescribed radio nets.

I did find these websites

You might want to go to the group for A school in Great Lakes. Hoppi was a seabee with a amphibious group. I am sure she could help you and she is a career counselor.

Karen,
Thank you so much for all your work. I appreciate ALL the info. It seems like with my son, I just about figure out what it is, that he does, and then he goes and changes on me. In the beginning of his active duty he was an Airmen. Then he changed to SeaBees, wow was that ever a big one, from being on a ship, dealing with helicopters, to being in the sand, supporting the Marines. Now, in the reserves, he's beginning to talk about another change. I don't know if this is keeping me young, or aging me way to fast.
Thanks again, and thank your sailor for me,
Debbie Satterfield
