Judy- I guess better way to it is if anyone knows what he will do after his training at "A" and "C" school and then if he were to be deployed what would he be doing? He is going or at VA for IS so Im just wondering if he will be able to use any of the education or skills he learns in a civilian job. He didnt, couldnt get/find a job before he left. He was coing to community college but wanted a university and away from home. So in the Navy he went

Angie F. - looks like Battle Stations is Sunday night. Can't wait for my call on Monday (although I will take a call before that if it happens). Can't believe, just one more week and we will be on our way to GL. Hopefully we will be able to spot my son since he is carrying a flag.

Angie thanks for the info!
Tried calling...duh Holday! lol So this is for everyone with stateside sailors right?
Would you mind if I copied this on my PIR Alumni board?
I have to run to work now...have a good day all!

You're welcome Danielle. So, since you have at least two weeks, you have time wait for a delivery of your own...

This is from the USPS 1 800 610 8734 select option #1 then #1 again. Ask for the Military kit ~[boxes] ~or military pack~[envelopes] You receive 6 boxes Tape, packaging materials and labels You should get these in 7-10 days. They will ask if you have someone *deployed* that's it!!! (Stateside Sailors count) And its all FREE!!!! register once and get a customer ID# for reordering...
its that easy!! :D

Well I finally heard from my sailor. He's so relaxed and laid back. Told me not to bother writing because he's being moved in 2 weeks...I already have 5 pages for him! Angie thanks for the tip on the flat rate boxes. So far he's not asking for anything from home. He's in Chicago with 2 friends from home so I guess it really does feel like home to him. :-)
My son is looking to go to college when he gets out of A school-If he is enrolled do most schools allow for a military leave if he's called to active?

men to that Judy my friend. I read your post last night and I'm still chuckling this morning! :) Don't recall you mentioning that story before. LOL Ladies, guess I was one of the lucky few. My son was wearing one of the yellow ascots, (Honor Guard Rifle Drill Team) so I had it narrowed down a one in 21. Since he's over 6 feet, I knew he'd be in the back row, plus he told me he'd be standing next to his best friend, who happened to be black. Actually, the only other African American Sailor in his crew was on the other side of him! So, he was easily found! =) Just wish my camera had done a better job with the lighting in that Hall, some pics were so fuzzy.

Rene, that's a hoot!! ROTFL Totally sounds like something my hubby would do, although I'm not sure he'd try anything on a military base! Don't want to catch the attention of those scary, trigger happy MAs! LOL (kidding!)

Congrats to Billie Jo and Danielle. Just a reminder to use the USPS (priority/flat rate boxes) to mail all their technology, clothing etc. It's a government entity and therefore delivery to bases is easier. Don't waste $ trying to overnight anything either. It may be a few days before their schedules match with P.O. hours.

Kimbokatbo, I'm excited for you, MamaK and your whole 901 Div (and PIR) Group! When do they go through Battle Stations?

Happy Veterans Day to everyone. My deep thanks to any Moms/loved ones who have served our country! (I understand our Active Duty military don't consider themselves Vets? At least my son doesn't feel it applies to him yet.) Hi Linda! Your "boys" have been busy! :-)

Rene- Glad to know I am not the only one who did something (Let's call it) silly!
When I went back to the bleachers and told my other Division Moms what I did they threatened to throw me out of N4M's!! Thank goodness they let me still get on this site!

Billy Jo-Glad your son got to VA safe. Now on to his next step. I assume he is in Dam Neck? My son went there. It was small but he liked it. Hard to get around without a car, but it is not far from Virginia Beach. Not sure what you mean by
job? In the Navy or at home? My son came home after schooling, got more hours at his job, signed up for school and bought a classic car to fix up. A week after doing all that found out he was being deployed and had to leave in 30 days. Luckily he got a refund for school and took another leave from work. Being in the Reserves can be tough. You never know when you are going to have to pick up and leave civilian life. Each day is a learning experience, that is for sure.

We were in the parking lot waiting for my son one morning when there....my husband is rather orney, he thought he saw him...so he drove the car up like SUPER close, like he was going to hit him. All of a sudden, we see this unfamiliar face, looking at us with big eyes, like.."what the HECK???" Needless to say, it wasn't our kid. Oh man, everytime i think about that I crack up!

Kimbokatbo- he is going for IS. Im wondering what he is going to do after "A" and "C" school though. I mean the kind of job the descriptions are so broad. Like what are the majority of graduates doing for jobs? Does anyone have a clue?
D-Bs Mom- I did just this morning get a call telling me he was getting on a flight bound for VA @ about 0830 then I got a second call about 1730 letting me know he got there and giving me his address and that whan I has a free moment if I could mail his cell phone and laptop. I told him the one stipulation to mailing these items is he has to answer everytime I call or text. He laughed at me. Im already scoping out flights for february.
