I'm so happy, I thought my son was going to be alone on Thanksgiving in GL, he just had his PIR 11/13. But he told me today that he and two other Sailors are going to a Sailor house near GL. He gets to come home for Christmas!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Judy, Enjoy, enjoy!!! So glad Chris will be home. I know the upcoming is not the best, but you know that he is just so happy to be going. He is doing what the Navy has trained him to do and that's what is important to him, despite what us moms think. You have ALL of us here to help you through this and the time will fly. It always does. Have a great holiday!!!!!!

I will be enjoying Thanksgiving. Chris is coming home. Going to try and enjoy the day and not think about his deployment in January! I hope everyone either gets to see their Sailor or gets a call from them. HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone.

Hello out there! Taking a break from getting our Christmas package out to our adopted troops to look for a Troops support group similar to mine some were near or reasonable driving distance from Toms River. I have a radio station sponsoring a Support The Troops Event but they need a partner. There is no cost involved and there can be many benefits!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. She is tough playing football with the boys and softball in High School. She has a better arm than most of the boys she played with. lol She loves the Rainforest cafe and I know she will want to go there. She missed her first run by a minute and has to take it for real on the 13th. She says no worries, "I got this" Good to see her confidence is high. The Navy has brought out the best in her. She amazes me when she calls and says I really like it here. Go figure.

Hi Ladies I received this email and I did verify there is a org. called Red Fridays. There are people who do this on there own so it is a nice way to show our support. I felt I would share it with you all. I got this snip it from there website: "We need to let our servicemen and women know we support their sacrifice and we will not forget them and we will do this by wearing red on every Friday." Just a thought to share and show support. Take Care

Hi Marcie33, Welcome. I know the feelings that are building up getting ready for PIR to see your daughter for the first time in 8 weeks. Bring Tissues... Enjoy!!!!! There are many suggsted places on this site to go in Chicago. We went to the rainforest Cafe, which was fun and light hearted for all.

Marcie-Marianne is right. My son also got very sick. He refused to go to see anyone about it though. He was afraid that he would be held back a week. Not a smart thing to do, but he made it through. It is so hard hearing that they are sick when they are so far away. We are used to nursing them back to health. Makes us feel kind of helpless. No gradual way to cut the apron strings once they join the Navy!! Glad she is better. I am sure you are counting the days till her PIR!
