Navy For Moms

Hi my name is Toni, and my son graduated B/C, 5-23-08, went to A school for 8 wks. in San Antonio, Texas to be an MA. He really loved it. He graduated there on 8-1-08, came home for 2 wks. then he was off to Norfolk, VA. where he is not stationed there for shore duty for 3 yrs. But with the navy you never know, he could get stationed somewhere else to or shiped out, you never know, but for now very happy. I even went to visit him already it was alot of fun. It's was only around 7 1/2 hrs. away.

So I welcome to meet all NY Navy moms.
Toni

HI ALL NY/ LONG ISLAND MOMS,

MY SON HAS BEEN IN THE USN FOR 9 YEARS AND JUST REUPPED FOR ANOTHER 4. HE IS CURRENTLY ON THE USS NASSAU. HE IS TRAVELING AND MEETING PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. HE HAS BECOME THE MAN ANY MOM (AND I AM) OR WIFE WOULD BE PROUD OF. I'M SURE YOUR KIDS WILL DO GREAT AND FOR THEM THIS WILL BE THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFE TIME.....GOOD LUCK AND SAFE JOURNEYS FOR ALL OUR NY/LONG ISLAND SAILORS...

PS... ASK YOUR SAILOR ABOUT THE "TIGER CRUISES AND FAMILY CRUISES FOR THOSE ON BOARD SHIPS.....

Hi,
I'm from Bohemia, Long Island and I just joined this group. I am also in the nuke group. My son joined the Navy a year an a half ago, at age 18, and loves it! He is going to graduate nuke school in Dec. 08 and who knows where from there. He is in Ballston Spa, NY now, so he has come home for a couple of weekends (due home this weekend and next, can't wait!)
Hey Helene, things seem real confusing right now, but everything seems to run smoother the longer your son is in. The Navy provides them with all the info they need. It's just getting them to inform you, that's tough. Danny actually enjoyed bootcamp. It is not as tough as you imagine. He is being treated with respect and is being treated well.

HI, IM A NAVY MOM AND LIVE IN MERRICK. I JUST FOUND THIS SITE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I LOVE IT. GREAT SUPPORT! MY SON IS GOING ON TWO YEARS. HE HIS CURRENTLY STATIONED IN OKINAWA. THIS IS THE LONGEST I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM, IT WILL BE GOING ON 8 MONTHS. HE COMES HOME TO MISSISSIPPI IN JANUARY AND WILL BE THERE FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. WE ARE HOPING TO GO VISIT. ITS VERY HARD TO BE WITHOUT HIM FOR THE HOLIDAYS, BUT LUCKILY WE DO GET TO TALK TO HIM ALOT AND WE NOW HAVE A WEBCAM AND CAN SEE HIM. TECHNOLOGY IS AMAZING. THIS WEBSITE WAS A GREAT IDEA. IT HELPS TO HEAR EVERYONES STORIES AND CONCERNS FOR OUR CHILDREN. LOOKING FORWARD TO TALKING TO SOME LOCAL NAVY MOMS. KATHY

Hi Guys I'm Barbara from Coram LI and grateful to find other LI families. My son, Augie just left for bc this past Mon 4/20 and as of yet we haven't heard a peep. I got his box yesterday - very weird feeling. Miss him like crazy - I hope he's getting the swing of things and not feeling sad or lonely. From here he's hoping A school will be in Groton for sub training. Anyway just wanted to connect. Hope to meet some of you soon

Hi my name is Patty from Port Jeff Station. My son graduated boot camp December 6th. A school in Pensicola until March. He just joined the USS Boxer in March. And yes one of the worst feelings Barbara was the box they sent from boot camp with the clothes in it. So far one phone and one email since he left. I know its for his protection and as a former navy wife I know they are safe. My son goes thru his sad (misses his family alot) but also loves the routine and learning new things.

Hi Patty - It's hard not having the ability to contact our kids when we'd like, especially when we know they're missing us as much as we miss them. I hope you hear from him soon. My son, Augie is now ending week 2 in bc and so far we've gotten 1 phone call (of course the notorious box) and 1 letter. No idea when he graduates. I'm sure you can remember back to your sons first few weeks in bc and now here is is out of school and assigned to the USS Boxer. I guess before too long this will all be past too. Time seems to drag while we wait for communication and yet seems to fly to quickly too. Again I hope you hear from him soon. Take care
