Hi Carolina Mom and welcome! I was in your shoes not to long ago. My Sailor graduated on June 26. Once you get a letter in the mail from him and you are able to send letters to him, believe me the time will fly! Our family looked everyday to see if we got mail! That too seemed to pass the time! You will be really proud of him when you first see him in his Sailor attire! Take plenty of tissues!!!!! That is great that you joined a PIR site. You will all be able to talk about your anxieties (sp?). Our group, as well as alot of other groups, met at Flannagans the night before graduation and we got to meet lots of folks that we had been communicating with! It is really a great festive affair!!! It is hard to believe but my Sailor is already coming home tomorrow for the first time since he left in May! Hang in there!!!! Anne

I have joined a group for his PIR date and it has been extremely helpful. This site in general has been very helpful and like you said Chris, it has been a blessing. I am at peace today, since I got my call last night, but I am sure that when that box comes, I will be in tears again.

Hey Carolina Mom, My son is currently in BC, he graduates Oct.9. Please let me know if I can be of any support to you. I will suggest that you start a group on this site for his graduation date when you find out when it is. We have one and it's been a blessing talking to moms who sons/daughters are there also. You will learn so much here. God bless.

Hi, Carolina Mom, I live in North Topsail Beach, our son graduated from Boot Camp in Oct '08, boy that sounds like a log time ago. If you need anything you know I am right up the road from you....This website is a blessing to me. There were days I did not know if I was going to make it or not. Keep in touch and keep writing to your son....It makes you feel so much better. Please make plans to go to the PIR. Bless all of our wonderful Sailors and Parents.

Hi all - I live in the Wilmington area and my son just arrived at boot camp late last night. I got my call at 0030 that he was there and that I wold be receiving my box in a week.

Hi again!
Anna, still not word on the orders but when I know I will let you all know. Some of our sons/daughters may be stationed together. Stranger things have happened.
I loved it when he was in boot camp and I met two other Mom's on here whose son's were in his division. He told me that, "it freaked me out when some guy came walking up to me and asked me is your Mom _________?" I told him that he can't escape "the long arm of the Mom." And when two or more Mom's get together for one common good there is no stopping us. :)

My son went to LeJeune for another school after P-Cola. then on to Japan and the Uss Geo. Wahsington. The school was in cryogenics.

Hi all, haven't been in the group for a while. My daughter grads from A school - HM Corpsman this Friday. her initial orders for Paris Island have been changed to FMBT at Camp Johnson (LeJeune) along with everyone else in her entire group just this past Friday. So, remember, orders are always subject to change at the last minute. Good news is she'll be even closer. Bad news is leave between grad and next stop may be canceled. Oh well.

We are in Durham, and will be traveling to jacksonville frequently. Maybe moms in one of those areas can get together?
