My sailor is at the Naval Station in Goose Creek for A School, and then eventually Power school. How far away is he allowed to travel during his time there? I heard there was a certain number of miles he has to stay within. Thanks!

When My son was in school at Goose Creek, they gave him a liberty chit to drive up to Norfolk, Virginia to see his twin return from deployment.

Annag - the discussion "Your Sailor's Schedule Upon Arrival to GC" (on the main nuke page - right hand side - under the member profiles) discusses this but in a nutshell during PH 1 (arrival to week 4 of training) they have a 75 mile radius.  Once they hit PH 3 (week 8 to graduation of Power School) they have a 400 mile radius.  Like CoTwin says - they can also put in a chit for special reasons.

That is interesting, because my son was under the impression that at least for the liberty after A school graduation they only had a 75 mile radius without a chit. But I recall him discussing the 400 mile radius as well. I will have to ask him about this.

When I was at NNPTC it was 100 miles without a chit, 350 with a chit. Regardless of the numbers involved, liberty radius chits are routinely approved by a class SLPO assuming they have a travel plan that gets them back to base before the next academic/watch day.
