OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I rented this little mother in law cottage. It has two bedrooms and a private yard with BBQ. It was perfect, quiet and 9 min. to base. a straight shot to base. Owner really nice (John on here_ He wants you to book through the VBRO place, do a google search If you can't find it You could call him. but he would prefer not to be called unless you need him after you book it. I got in late, after 10pm and he waited there for me so I know where I was going and he gave me the key and showed me around. It was great. The pic I posted earlier today with my sleeping sailor was on the couch in the cottage.

I am guessing this thread was started to find decent places to stay while coming in for graduation ceremonies...but in case you would like some additional info if you are coming in for a pre-grad visit....

My daughter is about a month from Prototype graduation. Due to my work schedule, I may not be able to make her graduation, which changed a week from the original (which I could make).

Prototype is HARD. And STRESSFULL. She really wanted me to come visit, but the cost of airfare on weekends when she had some 4-days was too much for me to make the cross-country trip. Luckily we found a time that worked for both of us—a mid-week 3-day off for her and my birthday week that I took vacation days for! Airfare was $500 less than weekend fare.

I booked a couple nights out in Isle of Palms at the Seaside Inn Oceanfront. Room was $125+ tax for 2 queens, and it is ocean-front with a nice sun porch. Very relaxing for us, and since it is off season, it is pretty quiet here, especially mid-week.

Today (my birthday) we had brunch, then soaked up the sun, then had massages and dinner with one of her crewmates joining us. Tomorrow we plan to do the harbor cruise and the carriage tour around Charleston, same crewmate with us (they get pretty tight).

I’m here with her now—there’s a lot of sleep associated with those days off:)—but it is priceless time to be with her.

So, bottom line is, I recommend the Seaside Inn Oceanfront in Isle of Palms, if you get the chance to visit in between graduation time:)
