Navy For Moms

Thought I would start this discussion group so the Moms (and Dads) of Power School Class graduating on January 22 could get to know each other better.

I am Marybeth, Proud Mom of James (EM3).

Any word on how their last Chemistry test was yesterday? We did not get to talk with our son yesterday/Curious to know if anyone else heard about the exam.

I didn't get James' score but he said he did "not great but better than the classes average so far" - he's been doing really really well on this last round of tests. And because of this he's suddenly finding himself with more free time, and has even had the time to concentrate on his golf game a little!!

They have Veteran's Day off - he said Applebees is offering free food to military so he's planning on hitting all of them in a 25 mile radius!!! LOL.

Dan didn't do great either. This was the first one he failed. He said just way too much information to cram in. Hopefully Friday's will be better.
He is looking forward to Veteran's day off as well. will have to inform him about Applebee's!

Had a great dinner tonight with a group from N4M's Chicago mom's group. A wonderful time sharing pictures, stories about our kids and our lives adjusting to their Navy life!

Spoke to Zach and he told me that the test this Friday will be the last one until a week from Monday. They are actually going to get a bit of a break from "the insanity" of the last 2 weeks (Zach's words, cleaned up a little bit, not mine). He's looking forward to not having a single test next week, along with Veterans Day off as well. I think he feels like they've hit the lottery!

Anyone else's Sailor get told they were switching rooms this weekend? Mine is. He is feeling pretty blue about it right now even though I think he knew that it might happen to him during power school when he was moved to the building he is in now. I was just wondering if that is why there are no tests for them this coming week. I am glad about that for them. It sounds like they could all use a bit of a breather. God Bless Them, Everyone!

My son moved last week. He said they were doing "remodeling" in the area he had been in. Don't know anything more than that tho'.

Yes, mine said the same thing about that only he added that they would be painting. As it turns out he only has to move down a floor so it won't be as awful as he thought it could be. His room is getting full of stuff from the sounds of it.

Just talked to James... He too is moving rooms (also down a floor)... however the key isn't working on his new room so he can't get his stuff in there. They've replaced the key 5 times and it still doesn't work.

Their next test is next Monday - he said they only have about 10 study pages left. And I just found out that his grandfather uncle and brother will be visiting him next weekend. You would think I would have already known that since the brother is one of the residents of my home LOL. I knew they were planning on going.... didn't know they had already made plans!

Gee, did it occur to them to try replacing the LOCK?

as for knowing the trip plans, Marybeth, that's a guy thing. They usually communicate by osmosis, meaning if they just THINK about telling you things, that should be as good as actually telling you.

That's a good one Maureen! and so so true!!! It happens a lot at our house. lol

You would think, being that this is a nuclear engineering school, that the thought may have occurred to someone LOL. James did say he thought it was the mechanism, but I guess the ones in charge to fix it won't be available until tomorrow. And oh yeah, he has to be out of his room by then. He'll figure it out eventually....
