Teresa,
Talked to my son today. He does know your son! The info that I am getting (now whether this is 100% accurate or not, I don't know) is that they are ALL going to BS. They will be notified and then have 24 hours to get out of the barracks and up to 10 days to get to BS. Then they have up to 10 days in a hotel to find a place to live. I have heard that they will have to get apts. and I have also heard that they will live on the base. Another mom said that her son found a townhouse the same day he got there and moved in three days later. So I think it will all work out but it is hard for me. Evidently all the guys will be doing this so I'm sure there is a system, etc. Keep in touch if you find anything out!

My son says they will live on base. He just found out that he will be going to BS, but not sure whether immediately or after 2 months. It is a lot farther from us than GC. GC is 12 - 13 hours and BS is at least 20 hours, probably more. I had trouble sleeping too! But I finally realized that God is using this to help prepare me for later - when who knows where he will be!
Thankful for this group - helps knowing I am not the only one feeling this way.
Guess the kids are handling this better than we are. If I hear anything I will let you know.
Hi everyone
I spoke with my son last night and he mentioned that our group has a really big exam on the Friday after Veterans Day. Let's all say a prayer each day for our sailors as this last month is really going to be tough for them.

Yeah - I think they guys have lots of tests in this next month! Comps are on the 17th - my son is concerned about them, so we need to really pray for them. They have all worked so hard and then to have it all come down to that one test is scary for them!

My son is also on hold for 2 months at least - possibly 4. I think he is ready for a little break from the classroom and studying though. Also, I think he is staying in GC.

they should find out this week where they will be doing prototype, mine wants to stay in GC

Downtime before proto seems to be lengthening. Sailors from classes ahead of 905 are tracking and there may be less space in GC due to refueling needs.

My son says that one of the subs has gone to Norfolk for drydock work. That has lessened the spots at GC.

I heard that too from son who is in prototype right now.

My son wants to stay in GC as he is a warm weather person. He called me at work yesterday when he had a break venting about the possibility of going to BS. He says that he will have to increase the lift on his jeep, get new tires and a hard top (soft top will cave in due to weight of snow). I told him at least he would have the perfect vehicle for the rough weather up there. He was not soothed by that!! I do know that a lot of the nukes have bought vehicles that will have a harder time with rough weather conditions. I saw a lot of mustang convertibles when we were down last!! He said that he would not find out for sure for 48 hours. He would certainly be further away from home and I don't like that, but it is just for 6 months....

Hi Nuke Moms! Just spoke with my son Sal and he stated he was informed today that there is a very good chance he will be going to Ballston NY in February instead of T-track for 8 months. Hope to meet some of you at the graduation on the 20th!

A big thanks to everyone who provided information regarding graduation on the 20th. I was able to get a copy -- thanks Judy!!!.

Last I heard from Andy -- he is an alternate to go to BS and once there will be TAD for a couple of months before starting Prototype -- just a "wait and see" pattern for him. We told him (if he wanted us to) that we would go from GC to BS with him and help him get settled -- of course that depends on when his orders are for him to travel. But if it works out, he wants us to go with him. So, I'm now looking at traveling from Minnesota to GC to BS and then back to Minnesota. Good thing I like driving/riding in a car!!! But it will be all worth it if I get to spend some time with Andy.

Has anyone been down in the GC area before? Any recommendations for places to stay??

Thanks.
