I was recently in Goose Creek over Columbus Day weekend and we stayed at Wingate by Wyndham Hotel. It was definitely an upgrade from where we stayed last time (Days in Goose Creek). It is approx. 15 minutes away from the base. Hotel is new, staff was very friendly, free breakfast, and the rooms were very nice. 843-553-4444

Hi Marybeth! Sal told me to find something in Goose Creek as that would be the closest to him. I found the Ecno Lodge but haven't heard too many good things about it

Does anyone in here have a loved one in NY that isn't going to get to come home for Thanksgiving? Please let me know if you have someone who is here in NY. Maybe I can help in some way. God Bless our young heroes!!!!

How great to go to the Illinois meet and greet in Bloomington today, and have a chance to talk with a Chief Petty Officer who went through the Nuke program. I actually kinda maybe understand some of the things my sailor is doing! lol

Hey Louann!!! Long time no talk... I stayed at the econo-lodge - for 1 night it worked. But not high on the list for me.

Congrats to all the newly graduated Petty Officers! One of our EM friends just graduated and is on his way home to Spokane.

Terry - Ryan was surprised at his grade too - but it WAS their first test, so they're just getting accustomed to the new grading and teachers and whatnot.

I will have Adam look at the photos, he was not in the top 3, but, he graduated!! Anyway, he came through the door at 12;30am, and was quite excited and exhausted. He said people treated him like a rock star on the way home. That is soooo good to hear Congrats to all our Petty Officers!! :)

Terry, I agree with Loves, they don't really have a choice whether or not to get help. Extra study hours are assigned based on their grade. If he didn't do well as in not passed, I think the study hours are pretty high, 24 per week...
My son didn't do well on his first power school test-says he didn't think it would be that tough and didn't really prepare for it, well didn't do well and had 5 weeks of extra study hours. He just recently got those hours reduced. It is hard for them but it is like pruning a bush, it hurts, but it helps them grow.
Good luck to your Sailor the rest of Power School and also know that after that test my son has gone on to do well on all the tests since--so it is not all downhill if they start out shaky. :-)
